I am not familiar with your exact configuration. The tensioners usually have a molded shape on them for a socket drive on a breaker bar or rachet. You would inset the drive into the molded hole and then put tension on the tool to make the belt loose.
Sometimes a tool is not even needed, as the tensioner may be in a convenient location which allows you to just push down on the tensioner by hand. There is no rule about reassembly either.
Make the last pulley to clear the belt be the easiest to reach. Some people prefer a grooved pulley to be last and some people want to deal with only the non-grooved pulleys so the belt slides on bald surfaces better than grooved surfaces. But if you already have enough play in the belt, it really does not matter.
Another item. Make sure you have a rebuilt or new alternator with the same number of grooves on the pulley. And sometimes you need to keep your own pulley because the replacement will not always have a pulley.
toyota usually have two bolts on their accessory belt tensioners, one is for adjustment and on is to lock it down. make sure you losen the lock down bolt first then unscew the long adjusting bolt all the way.
if it is a four cylinder look at the idler pulley to the left of the power steering pump assembly, the tensioner is a part of that pulley not the power steering pump bracket. i hope this helps
I am not familar with your particular vehicle so what I provide is general guidance. I am addressing this for a serpentine belt (not to be confused with a timing belt). If you removed any of the pulleys in replacing the belt check and make sure you put the pulley on correctly. It is not that difficult to reverse a pulley when putting it on. If you losened a pulley or tensioner then go back to those pulleys and make sure the pulley is lying flat against its mount. Take a look at which pulley is out of allignment compared to the others. The one pulley that is out of allignment is where your problem is. If you did not remove or losen any pulleys (only losened a tensioner) in pulling the belt just go ahead and put the belt back on and see what happens. If it was a timing belt you were talking about you would never just try putting it on as poping a serpentine belt is not a big deal but pop a timing belt can ruing your engine.
U need to losen bolt on tensioner idler pulley make sure their is no slack one the long side of belt (crank to cam)then lightly par on pulley then tighten up then turn eng over by hand 360 check timing and tension
To replace the sepentine belt: Get a 9/16 socket with a extension. Look under the car and look for the oil filter. Next to the oil filter you will see a bolt. Use the sock and losen the bolt. This will losen the tensioner. You will notice the bolt coming out, push the bolt up and the tensioner will allow you to remove the belt.
