Question about 1993 Isuzu Pickup

'94 Isuzu pu (carb.) Sometimes dies while running down freeway

Hello, My '94 Isuzu pu dies while running down the freeway from time to time. (It has a carb, not fuel injection, it has a 4 cyl. 5spd) Replaced all filters, checked for vacume leaks. The idol varies espiecally when cold. The tuck bucks a bit when cold and gets somewhat better when warmed up. It will not die while running around town.
Any ideas? Is this a problem with other late model carbed Isuzu's?
Thanks

On 94 Isuzu pickup 2.3 liters , I install new fuel pump and filters I have no gas at carb. It's has a mechanical pump. How do I catch prime? Starting fuel starts it then it dies.

I have a diesel van and what I do to prime fuel lines is to connect a fuel hose to the inlet of the filter. Using a fuel container. I know it is a rough rigging but it has kept me from towing my van to the mechanic

How do i get fuel to carb on 94 Isuzu pickup after replacing fuel pump and filters , I try using starting fuel to let it crank up catch prime , it dies and has gas.

install the furl lines on the pump the other way around
if it is not pumping fuel you have the inlet as the out let and visa versa
look for an arrow on the pump housing and install accordingly

Ive got a 94 isuzu rodeo that will start but will not stay running

CHECK FOR VACUUM LEAKS. MOST OF THE TIME YOU WILL HEAR A WHISTLING NOISE OR A SUCKING SOUND. YOU CAN GET A CAN OF SPRAY CARB CLEANER AND SPRAY AROUND ENGINE,IF ENGINE CHANGES RPM'S THAT AREA IS OF CONCERN. POSSIBLE AIC VALVE STICKING OR SLOW TO RESPOND.

94 isuzu pickup loping idle problem

I have a 91 pickup with the 2.3 engine. The problem that you are having is likely the same problem I have - and it is caused by the Mixture Control Valve. It is a white plastic barbell shaped device in a holder on the inside fender wall. There are two vacuum hoses going to it - one small diameter and a larger one. Air enters the bottom of the valve and is drawn through the larger hose. The amount of vacuum on the small hose regulates the amount allowed through the large hose. I haven't found one at a parts store nor have I found one in a junk yard just yet. The Isuzu dealer can order one, but as the parts guy said, "Isuzu is very proud of their part". It costs about $150. If you want to check yours, there are several things you can do: first, run the vehicle and put your hand under the valve - it will **** a lot of air all the time. You can pull the valve off the truck and pry the bottom off the housing. You will probably see the same thing I did - broken pieces that used to stop the air flow through the valve. Until you get a replacement, you can try what I did: 1. Pull the small vacuum hose off and let it lay loose, or 2. Pull the small vacuum hose off and let it lay loose AND block the large hose (or the bottom of the valve). In either case, you have to adjust the fast idle screw and/or mixture screw on the side of the carburator. If you adjust either screw, write down what you did, in case you get a new valve later. The diference between 1 and 2 is that 1 will run good once it is warmed up but will want to stall until it warms; 2 runs good both when cold and warm, but will idle faster than it should. Neither of these will make the truck run like it should, but it is a 100 times better than trying to drive it with the loping.

Unstable RPM - is this also a safety issue??

yes here is the common problem

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

2001 Isuzu Rodeo Sport V6 cuts oof

There are 3 major issues with the V6 Rodeo. The intake manifold gaskets leak. The drive by wire sensor on the gas pedal goes bad and makes it stall or run at just idle (light will come on). And your problem is the wiring harness to the motor. Get under while it is running (best to do on lift) grab the harness and shake it and pull it. Engine will probably die. Sometimes taking plug apart and using electrical contact cleaner on it will work, sometimes a stick of dynamite will cure all the issues with these. My son was almost killed three times in his 2001.
