The pump is in the fuel tank. You need to replace the fuel pump. it is dying, and will sooner or later die all together. Have you changed the fuel filter????? Also check that out!!!!

Last thing to do after doing all of that, Run a Can of SEAFOAM in the gas tank to help clean the rest of your fuel system.

Have 87 jeep comanche, have been told it has a cam shaft sensor, to keep it in time , if so where is it located? the engine is a 4.0

The cam sensor is located in the distributor.check the cylinder compression, check for ignition spark, check for fuel injector pulse and fuel pressure.

I have a 1991 jeep comanche, straight 6. It will turn over and run for a while but when you turn it off the fuel pump will not engage again and motor won't start. what could it be?

Its a 91,,,,20 years of use on that fuel pump, If it is not getting gas than its the fuel pump, You could try replaceing the fuel filter,And have some one do a fuel pressure test,But its most likely the pump died and yes some will pump a little and than quit. How many miles on it? thats how many miles on that pump also.

1987 jeep comanche with4.0 will crank but wont idle i have already changed tps and idle air control valve and checked fuel pump and changed fuel filter and checked vacume lines with no change what else...

have you checked the crank position sensor? when this baby goes the engine will start and run for one or two seconds then die like its out of gas.

Also the ignition switch may be suspect.

Will not start one day but will the next motor turns over

no u won't, does it start if u spray starting fluid in the throttle? do u have spark at the right time, bring #1 to top dead center compression stroke and see if you have spark at the time, if not the timing chain may have jumped, u did not mention the engine u have, so assume 6 cylinder..
