Question about 1994 Chevrolet Suburban

1 Answer

Running rough on initial start up, my 94 suburban seems to run fine. As it warms up, it begins to run rough. During road test, the harder I accelerate, the more sluggish it gets. It also detonates under acceleration. It feels as if the throttle body is dumping t much fuel. When engine is warm it acts like the timing is to far advanced when cranking. I've done all the obvious.

Is the service engine light on in the dash? There is a knock sensor located on the side of the engine block that sends a signal to the ECM that will prevent the ping and adjust timing accordingly.

    Let me know.

1988 Suburban with 5.7 TBI runs fine until warms up. Goes to fast idle and when it comes off fast idles won't start back until cools down.

Lets start at the beginning. Is the check engine light on ?
You have an idle air control valve which could be sticking open or shorted to ground. You should be able to unplug it to test. There also could be a gasket or hose that is opening up and causing a huge vac leak.

2005 monte carlo seems to run rough / misfire when warm.

Remove your ignition module and take it to a parts house to be tested. This is common behavior for a failing module after it gets warm. Have them check it several times to insure it gets hot during testing.

Have these things checked for #1:
Spark plug
plug wire

and the throttle position sensor, also have a fuel pressure test done, especially for the hesitation.
