A mechanic.

If you don't know the motor size, do yourself a favor and don't touch it.

I got 2001buick century custom with a 3.1 v6 motor the engine is sideways where is the freeze plug located same with the Plymouth intakes

Your question is worded a bit strangely but I will attempt to answer what I think you're asking. You have a 2001 Buick Century with a Chevy 3.1 V6 mounted transverse (side to side). I believe there are four freeze plugs on that engine block, two on either side and visible from underneath. I don't know how easy or difficult they are to get to. If you change them yourself make sure you don't put tap water in the radiator afterward. Get distilled water from the grocery store for about 99 cents a gallon. It is free of minerals. Tap water is loaded with minerals that calcify and end up restricting coolant flow. Use a good antifreeze and if water is needed only use distilled water.

How much to replace water pump on 2004 cherokee

That depends on WHATS the engine size??? Always give Year, Make, Model & Engine ...six-cylinder...4.0L...5.2...V8...It probably don't matter on the water pump R & R, but it's nice to have that information and anything else you might think of that would or could be helpful in diagnosing or replacing a spark plug you have to know the engine size. Year, Make & Model is good but the Engine size is very helpful when describing the vehicle. I wish EVERYBODY would tell year, make, model AND engine size. I have to ask most every time before I can begin to diagnosing or getting parts for any vehicle. Now It depends on where you live? In Kansas it's $300 to $350 if I buy the parts and replace the antifreeze. If you buy the parts and antifreeze 2gal antifreeze is $32 to $36 pends where you get it and for that kind of money buy the undiluted antifreeze. I don't like paying for 50/50 I can add the needed water myself. Water pump is $150 to $255 or more. I can charge $ 100 to $175. Shop labor is $125/ hour most vehicles without any complications 1 to 1 1/2 hours. 4X4 will cost a little bit more. Hope that helps! If you need any further info or help you may contact me. Now I'm signing off to go out to my yard and work it's getting to nice to be inside. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

2004 mercury sable keep overheating. replaced drive belt and thermostat. now water pump appears to be leaking.

Don't mind helping but there are several pictures as well as written instructions. To much to cut, paste and all that stuff on fixya plus there is a size limit on pictures as well. If you want, email me directly at with your vehicle information (year, make, model) and I will be happy to make up a PDF and email it to you with pretty detailed instructions and pictures. It won't cost you anything but will need to know if the 8th digit of your VIN is a S, 2 or a U so I'm sure I give you the right information.

Do you have to take the motor out of a 1990 buick lesabre 3800 V6 to replace the water pump?

Hello fellow LeSabre owner. A few year's ago I replaced the water pump on my 1994 LeSabre and I too encountered a few obsticals. After I figured out how to address these problems I was then able to install my new water pump. To assit other LeSabre owners, I posted the actual process that I used on the web. See the attached link for my solution ("Deano/Illinois") and several other comments from other Buick LeSabre owners. The entire process will take you about three hours. Good Luck!

Please rememeber to rate my solution. Thanks!

Removing a 1994 buick century v6 water pump

You may need to move some things aside from the passenger side front of engine bay to see water pump pulley. Remove drive belt. Remove Water pump pulley (forward, front of engine). You should now see the bolt hold the water pump to the housing remove bolts and water pump should come right out.
