Question about 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis

1 Answer

2001 Grand Marquis limped home and now won't start.

The car will run with a shot of carb cleaner. I have switched the fuel pump relays around with no luck. The red re-set switch in the trunk is pushed in. It seems the fuel pump is not working. Do you have to drop the tank to replace the pump? The car only has 9,000 miles on it. Can anyone help me? Thank you.

The fuel pump is located inthe engine compartment. It has a fuel line running to the intake. Usually the top pump with the belt on it. Your fuel regulator, is located on the fuel tank. That you will have to go under the car to get at. No reason to drop the tank. If this helped please rate. Thank you

2001 Mercury Marquis is not starting. The "OBD2" connector has no response. No power at fuel pump and no spark. How can i fix this?!?

Try resetting the Inertia switch. It is either in the trunk next to the air-ride control or around the front floor kick-panels. Another area is the Relay box for the ECM. If the ECM is not getting power, you will not have either spark or fuel.

The crankshaft sensor can also cause this problem. If the engine does not know it is cranking, no spark or fuel will be available. You may be able to retrieve a Code for this.

I cant get my a985 F250 to stay running, bought a new Carb, bought a new ignition control module, new coil

Check the wiring from the ignition switch . When you got fuel as the engine was cranking then the power for the pump is on the start side of the ignition switch and not in conjunction with the run side of the switch.. IT could be a fuse in the run circuit or a faulty pump relay.

My 01 mercury grand marguis will not start, it does not get power to the emergency fuel cut off switch or the full pump what should i check , it will start with ether.

Start with the fuel pump relay. Its in a black plastic cover above the left front wheel. There are 3 relays in a row. ECM, fuel and ac cutoff, they are all the same, swap the fuel with the cutoff and see if it starts. These relays go out often.

Fuel issue on 2001 Grand Marquis

most cars have an oil pressure sensor that is tied into the fuel system that will shut off fuel pump if oil pressure is low. Ford is famous for having a yellow fuel pump cut off switch that activates in a collision - you need to locate and check this 1st
