You should have the codes checked , don't really have enough info, ie.. year, make, model. Just taking a stab at it I would check the transmission range selector switch. ( park, neutral safety switch) Newer model cars run off of this along with the TPS and MAF

After the engine reaches operating temp, on a flat level surface, check the fluid level in the transmission (running in park) If it's low, top it off. If it's full, chances are there is an internal seal that is allowing pressure loss, preventing the transmission clutches to fully engage. You could try changing the fluid and filter, adding lucas trans conditioner. That may help a bit but most times the only permanent cure is to rebuild/replace the unit. Don't expect "instant results" from the conditioner. often it takes a few days to work...it took a long time for the seal to wear.

You mite have an ignition module problem but it sounds like your fuel pump is not working. Have some one turn the ignition on as you listen for the pump switching on

do you have enough transmission fluid in transmission? run engine, check fluid level with tip stick, if low, add and give car a test drive.

How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? Two things off the top of my head, problem with ignition switch or intermittent rpm signal. I have no way to be sure?
When it stalls, does it quickly restart, if not, do some testing, see what your losing, fuel--spark--whatever.

Cheverlet K1500 no spark

two more things related to spark one is the ignition module, two the distributor pickup assmbly, and last but not theh least check and make sure the distributor rotor is not burned up

check the pick up coi for continuity, using an omh meter you can use theh omh meter to test the distributor rotor also if they test out ok then replace the ignition module.
