1996 Chevy Beretta won't start

Starter was replaced last year. haven't had any trouble starting it. ran fine yesterday. went to start it this morning and nothing. headlights, interier lights and radio all come on and don't dim. turn key to start engine and nothing. no clicks no sound - except for the radio is still on and the lights are still bright.

thank you for your quick response. my husband took a pipe and tapped on something located toward the front middle of the engine this morning before taking the fuse panel off and examining all that. still nothing. any other ideas? he didn't have enough time to work on it this morning as we both had to get to work.

i'm sure we'll try the jump start and checking the leads and connections also. i really hope it's that simple.

thank you both for your help.

I have a 95 honda civic ex,wont start.ran fine yesterday,wont start this morning.battery is fully charged,new cap and rotor.would do u think might b my problem

if it wont turn over 1st check the ground s on the car and the battery 1st. your battery can be fully charged and the car will not start even over night this can happen. then look at the starter. Note: if you have over 109K on the car and the timing belt has never been replaced you will need to have this checked as well.

My 96 grand cherokee is shutting down, have replaced almost everything but crank sensor will this be the end of my problems???please help

If the crank sensor is failing, you should get a check engine light and a trouble code for it.
Have you had the computer checked for trouble codes ?

My 1996 chevy barretta the fuel pump wont kick on how do i check to see if the pumps bad or if its something else it was running just fine last nite when i parked it and i went to start it this morning and...

A fuse will blow for 2 reasons . 1) If the device has a Short in the circuit that runs through this fuse. 2) If the device draws more amperage from the power source through the fuse than the fuse will handle. ex. if a fuel pump or starter has a 20 amp fuse and the starter/fuel pump is going bad and draws 30 amps it will blow the fuse. A fuel pump on a 1996 vehicle is located in the fuel tank and is kept cool by the surrounding gas and the gas that flows through it. Overheating a fuel pump is virtually impossible. That being said there is a High probability that replacing the fuel pump and relay will fix this problem. It is quite common for this to occur in the GM vehicle of 1996. When the pump starts to fail, it draws an excessive amount of amperage and would blow the fuse. Hope you find this information useful.

I would check the battery, by jumping it with another car. If it starts then I would have the charging system checked out. Now if it does not start then it may be the starter. I hoped this helped Tim

Starter replaced now wont start

You sure the wires are on right, and not shorting against something? Is that one of the ones you have to do from underneath, and nearly tear the whole car apart to get to it?

Trouble starting and blinking dash

I had exactly the same problem this morning after returning from the store. I replaced the OEM battery with an Optima Red Top Model 25. Problem gone. Chrysler OEM batteries rarely last more than three years. You don't need to buy an Optima, but they do last a long time.

Good luck....

Won't start

check your fuel pump relay.. if it is not disengaging after the pressure has reached its max after turning the key off, then the relay is probably faulty.
