It has a 3.2 engine, Sometimes car dies while driving, sometimes it has trouble starting, might have to try 3 or 4 times to get it to start, Motor turns just does not start engine. I replaced the MAP sensor, did not correct problem, thinking it may be a Camshaft Position Sensor? Help.
I could very well be the TPS throttle position sensor acting up. I had a very similar situation on a 99 Concorde with the same engine in it in my shop today. Go to a shop that is able to do a data stream on the engine. What it is, is they hook up a scanner and have the ability to watch all the sensors as the car starts/runs.
An old question, but writing this for archival purposes, in case someone else has the same/similar problem with their 3.2L. I have a 2001 ES model, and had trouble getting it started a while back (around 60K; now have 135K). Turned out to be a fuel injector was leaky, not holding pressure when engine was shut off, and making it very hard to get the car started. Had all injectors replaced at a dealer ($600 job) - probably could have done it myself, but haven't had a problem since. Starting it, anyway.
I had similar problems with my 99 concorde 2.7 engine. It would not start, and when it did it would sputter.
Had it looked at and it was the timing chain.
Is there a code? What does the engine do? If the vehicle just dies without warning you might have a bad connection to the fuel pump. Check under the rear seat, this is where the wire harness to the fuel pump is located that goes to fuel pump relay. Check for corrosion.

I have a 1999 Intrepid with the 2.7 engine in it. I will be driving and it will all of a sudden just die on me, after a couple of tries it will restart with no problem. Could it be the fuel filter? Pump?
my car died and didn't want to start got it running but wont build power past 3000 rpm has weird knock when idling down

I have a 1995 dodge intrepid and it will die while driving. I have replaced the fuel pump and filter, the spark plugs, and the camshaft sensor and still no luck
