There are many possibilities such as leaky cylinder walls, leaky valve seals, etc... I think that a blown head gasket or a leaky intake mannifold gasket might be your culprit. It will take a lot of investigation to get it figured out since it will be an internal issue.

Let me know what you figure out. Good Luck!

Does the 6.6 duramax diesel engine have a pressure relief valve that regulates the oil pressure?

it should have. It will be either part of the oil pump or a relief valve screwed into the oil galley or oil filter housing above the filter body.

I got diesel going into my oil pan on a 2003 Chevy. Duramax

You probably have a problem with one or more of your injectors. You may want to check with a dealer. GM has extended the warranty on the injectors in these early Duramax engines.

Fuel in engine base oil

I'm not much on diesels, but for gas engines the most common source is a leaking injector or fuel pressure regulator.

Need to replace thermostat but am unsure about how antifreeze goes back in after being drained and how the the engine refills the raditor

You refill the engine coolant by filling the overflow reservoir/pressure tank.Start the vehicle and keep filling until it reaches the full mark, then allow the engine to get to operating temp of 190 degrees and then top off the coolant. There is no bleeders for this engine unless you have a duramax then there is a bleeder on top of thermosatat housing that you remove with the engine off and fill the coolant until it comes out of the bleed hole.Start the duramax engine and let warm to operating temp. You may need to hold the engine speed at 2000 rpm to get the diesel to operating temp.

A lot of my ford diesel friends are saying hot shots secret oil additive help thier injector problems? shoud i add it to my duramax 2003? already had all injectors replaced 70000 miles ago.

It will not help your Duramax injectors. They are not hydraulic. It will help your turbo and clean the rings in your engine. Hot Shot's Secret is a detergent and dispersant designed to clean the inside of the engine, especially the inside of oil fired injectors.

Excessive black exhaust on 2003 GMC Sierra Duramax Diesel.

This is what i would try (cheapest first) redexe/wyyns
injector cleaner, double dose, then i have put 1gal gas in 10gal diesel to increase burn temp (you may encounter a hot start problem temporarilly)then if still smoking, get a compresion check on the engine(this will tell you volumes)
by the way the NATO tanks put in 1/3 gas in diesel to stop it freezing in arctic conditions.any more than 1/3 can result in problems.
