Euraho, There are several reasons why the engine would idle high. Is the service engine light on? Does the engine run rough when idling or when driving?

    Let me know.

When should I get a tune up on my 2005 Mercury Mountaineer

There is no set time for a tune up. There are things that are checked and replaced at "intervals." For example the oxygen sensors are usually replaced between 60 and 75 thousand miles. The spark plugs at 85 to 100 thousand

My 2006 ford five hundred AWD sounds like a race car engine ? Is that normal ? It only has 35 thousand miles. Everyone that gets in the car says why does it sound like that

The tach going up is fairly normal. They all do it. 2K is kind of high. Clean the mass air flow sensor and the throttle body. This will also take care of the slow go, unless you need a tune up. The drain tube is on the passenger side of the firewall, a 90 degree angle tube. Blow air into it, this will unclog it. THe race car sound is , no resonator, bad muffler or both....

I have a 7 seater mistubishi gdi 3500 when climbing hills it looses power but able to run well on flat surfaves. what is the problem?

Sounds like your transmission is having problems. Have you changed the fluid ever? This is also a symptom of a shift solenoid or band. If you don't get this looked at you will be in the thousands to fix. Get it taken care of now and it will probably be around 500.00.

Bad fuel pump symptoms

I assume that you have fuel injection. Some cars allow you to put a pressure gauge on the fuel rail. If it takes you three times to start your car and you have over 100 thousand miles then you can pretty much say your pump is shot. Many times about 500 miles after a fuel filter change the pump will go out. A poor mans way would be to disconnect the fuel line and hold a finger over the line to see how much pressure is there. This is very dangerous because you could wind up with gas in your eyes or the car on fire. Fuel pressure requirements vary from car to car. Example, the Jeep Cherokee uses pretty high pressure and will not run unless the pressure is high.

99 taurus running rough smells funny light flashing

The reason the check engine light is flashing instead of on steady is because it is missing bad and the car companies did this to tell you to stop the car as soon as possible to prevent damage. That is the only time the light will flash off and on instead of being on steady.
The cause is a little harder to diagnose. It could be a fouled spark plug, a bad plug wire, an injector, stopped up fuel filter. I can't remember if that car has the distributer or the coil packs but you could have a problem there. If you have never changed the spark plugs or fuel filter, it is well over a hundred thousand miles to do so now. They say to change them at one hundred thousand but 50 to 75 thousand is better and you will get better mileage. The fuel filter needs to be changed every 20 thousand miles now days because of all the cheap gas we have to put in the cars.
This is for mechanics or technicians. If no one out there believes me about the mileage on the fuel filter, then take the filter off and see what comes out the back. Looks like black water to me.

Servicing cars

You should change your oil & filter every 3 to 5 thousand miles. The more frequently you change the oil, the more life you will get out of the engine. Rotate the tires every other oil change. Replace the air filter every 15 thousand miles. Flush the cooling system and flush the transmission (automatic) every 30 thousand. Change the iridium plugs every 90 thousand. There is no timing belt to worry about, that veh has a timing CHAIN. That is basically it.
