Question about 1992 Dodge Dakota

1 Answer

Initially starts fine, runs fine, then stalls at the first stop.

Initial startup is fine anbd the truck will run fine. If I take a short trip and stop (going to the convenience store, gas, etc) It wont restart without pressure on the gas pedal. Once it's running again, it will stall any time I accelerate and then slow down (like when sitting in slow moving traffic). Kicking it into neutral when slowing down or stopping will usually keep it running. HELP!!!

This is a fuel pump issue. i would replace it and the lines as well.also, a minor tune up wouldn't hurt as well. wires plugs distributor cap points etc...

its the cam shaft or drive shaft sensor. since your probably trying to restart it over and over again you are resetting the computer so you get no codes. have a 2000 and it did the same thing tell i gave up trying to start it and took it towed it to my house and had it tested.

White smoke, water vapor at initial start-up. drives a few miles, smokes again. could it be a vacuum regulator? 2001 jaguar s-type

Water vapor coming out of the exhaust at initial start-up is normal; that is condensation that collects when the engine is not running. White smoke at start-up depends on a couple of things. Tell me, where do you live? When the weather is very cold, all engines will emit steam (white smoke) when they are first running; this stops after the engine has been running a while and is warm.

In short, if this is only happening at first start of the morning and goes away over time, there is nothing wrong.

If, however, the "white smoke" continues and never stops, you may have a blown head gasket.
