Question about 1986 Jeep Cherokee
I have had this Jeep for about a year, my mom gave it to me as it died on her and she has a "new" car. I love this car and have been working on it every chance I get money too. I have just resently rebuild the carburetor with a new carb kit, but now it's really actting up, it will hardly start, I can smell fuel as I try to start it and I find that the choke doesn't open enough. I have replaced the following: spark plugs, spark plug wires, air filter, battery (to a more powerful one), distributor cap and rotor, carb kit, alternater, and starter and probably more that I can't remember. The amount of carbon that is coming out of the exhaust is unbelieveable!!! I find that the car runs better when I take the air filter and air unit off but I would like to have everything working well. I tried taking it for a run after I rebuild the carb but it didn't get past 30km and kept bogging down really bad. If you have any advise please let me know!! Thank you so much
Check your fuel filter, if it is clogged the fuel filter will only let you get up to a certain MPH/KM and then it will just stop. So give that a shot
