Question about 2005 Audi A4

Cylinder #2 misfire

Lost cylinder #2 while driving. have checked the coil pack and spark plug by swapping it with #1's, the injector may be clogged although I can hear it working, but other than the electronics i'm stumped.

(By the way, i've tried to reproduce the spark in that cylinder by pulling the plug but can't replicate. Is there a way to check to see if it's getting juice??)

thanx.

    thanks for responding.
Looks like it's not the injector as that plug isn't getting any spark (I can hear the spark arcing from the tip of the spark plug to the wire when I loosened #3's coil pack, but couldn't hear it on #2's)...

It looks like the wires lead back to the ECU. Does that mean it may be fried?? The wire's look clean and otherwise "new" (ie not severed).

I doubt the problem is the computer.

    Try changing your plug wires.

After changing the coil pack and spark plug, why is it still skipping?

Timing could have jumped. Could be a bad head gasket also. even possible to be a small hole in piston check the cylinder for compression. Check the fuel injector to that cylinder if you have bad air to gas mixture it will throw a code of misfire change fuel filter check fuel injector to see if clogged. most likely it is the fuel injector .

2001 buick century P0304 step on gas engine light starts flashing

P0304 is engine misfire #4 cylinder Several things can cause a misfire #1 electrical which you have covered #2 Mechanical Test engine compression is should be around 150 cranking and 120 running . internal valve train components can cause bad compression and the valves then self. #3 fuel injector can be the cause suggest swapping with a know good cylinder and see if misfire follows injector.

What causes engine misfires to stay after new plugs and coil packs?

Try swapping the coil packs around - like swap #1 with #2, and swap #6 with #5, see if the misfires MOVE with the coil packs swapped to the new cylinders or if they stay with the cylinders. If they move with the coil packs, the new coil packs are bad. If they stay with the cylinders, there's a problem with those cylinders. You DID replace that camshaft sensor, right?

Have you checked your #1 and #6 injectors?

Had my truck tested,it said cylinder 1 misfire.what is causeing this?

Possible causes: bad spark plug, plug wire, coil, injector not working or stuck-clogged, or an internal mechanical problem where compression is lost on #1-like a bad valve not seating, or head gasket...To check for a mechanical condition, do a compression test.
First thing to do is pull the spark plug and check it or swap in a known good one. Check the spark on #1-should have a blue snapping spark when the engine is cranked. If so, not the coil or the wire. Keep looking. Good luck.

HAD 2001 OLDS ALERO COMPUTOR CHECK SAID # 2 CYLINDER WAS MISSFIRING CHANGED #2COIL PACK STILL DIES WHEN SLOWING DOWN OR STOPING BUT STARTS RIGHT BACK UP DIES WHEN STOPPING OR SLOWING DOWN ALSO DIES AFTER...

Sounds like #2 is still missing. Misfires can be caused by an ignition problem, a fuel problem, or a mechanical problem where there is no compression in the cylinder.
Okay, you have changed the coil. Now try changing spark plugs and the spark plug wire-Swap #2 and #1 spark plugs and the plug wire too, and see if misfire follows now on #1. If it does, bad plug or bad plug wire. Of course you could just drop a new plug into #2 and see what happens. If no change, swap the plug wires and test again. If still misfiring, check the spark at end of plug wire-you need to see a blue snapping spark to know the ignition is working good on that #2.
If you have spark there, need to check if the injector is pulsing and spraying fuel into the cylinder. You might be able to feel the injector pulse if you hold a finger lightly on the injector while engine is running-should be a steady, rather rapid click feel to the injector. If not sure, have the injector circuit checked. You can buy an inexpensive "noid light" at auto parts stores, one that fits your injector circuit, plug it into #2 injector, and crank the car over or run the engine and watch the light-if working, the noid light will be blinking. This verifies the circuit is good. If the spark plug is wet with gas when pulled out, that would verify that injector is spraying fuel into the cylinder.
If still no help, have the compression checked in #2. Low compression from a valve problem or head gasket problem can cause misfires.
Good luck.

Cylinders 1 and 2 are misfiring causing major vibration and engine shut off while idling...is this a fuel injector problem?

This could be an ignition coil, spark plug, fuel injector or mechanical problem. You will need to isolate the issues and proceed accordingly. I would do some swapping arround. Swap the spark plugs 1 and 2 with m# and four and see if the misfire follows if it does you need plugs do the same with the coils again if the probles switches cylinders replace coils. if not then you may have to llok at injectors, compression and so on but I would try swapping things first

Lexus 2002 RX300 - What is it when the Trac Off, VSC & Check Engine lights are on and the DTC code says cylynder 1 and 6 misfire

You could have a bad coil pack or a bad fuel injector. swap out the coil packs from the misfiring cylinders and put them in the cylinders that are known to be firing correctly to narrow it down to determine if it is the coil pack first. When is the last time you changed the spark plugs? Pull them out of the misfiring cylinders to check the condition of the plugs.

99 dodge caravan #4 cylinder misfires, i replaced spark plug wires and spark plugs. Scanner showed #4 still misfiring, could this be the coil?

It could very well be a bad coil pack,or you have low compression in that cylinder. If the compression is good then go with the coil pack,if not you may need a head gasket or an intake manifold gasket.
