1990 240sx automatic tranny doesnt accelerate

It seems my tranny is slipping because #1 whn i floor the pedal from a stop, the car slowly moves forward, and has trouble shifting out of 1st and 2nd gear and doesnt go past 3rd, and it only shifts at a high RPM (around 3000+) and the accelerator must be played with a little in order to shift.

also i smell a bad exhaust leak and run out of gas very fast but cannot find the leak.

Have your car diagnosed by a professional. It sounds like you have multiple problems none of which can be accurately diagnosed here without a whole lot of guessing.Make sure engine is running correctly before doing anything to trans, but you likely do have a trans problem in there somewhere. What you do will likely cost a lot of $$$ How much do you like the car??? Your decision!!!

Yes sounds like the automatic transmission is worn out and needs to be rebuilt or replaced with new or second hand box. do it as the nissan silvia is a great car and will last you another 100k!

Turns off when going on reverse and when turning the wheel without pressing on the gas pedal

I know this might sound dumb, but it has happened to a lot of people - make sure your floor mat (not even a corner of it) isn't on top of the accelerator pedal. Even the slightest weight can cause the pedal to accelerate enough to be noticeable.
Not dumb, it's a good answer. The floor mat can slip forward (and has) in two of our new vehicles when we were driving on the highway. It had worked its way off the anchors and slipped forward, causing the vehicles to accelerate. I put the gearshift in Neutral, pulled off the highway and that was the problem, both times. I don't think it was on top of the gas pedal, underneath, but still pressing or I guess, pulling the pedal down.

All of these are good answers, but if it's an automatic transmission, it might be normal provided the engine performance is ok. Auto trannies have a torque converter stall speed. I have a 96 Cadillac Fleetwood and it will move on its own.

Car slipping in uphill acceleration is it my tires or something more is wrong with it?

Hi,
If the engine is revving but your not going forward then it sounds like your clutch is slipping if it is a manual, or the clutch packs are worn if it is an automatic transmission. Either way the clutch or transmission will need to be repaired or replaced. Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.
