Where is the trunk lid pull-down switch located?

The trunk lid on my son's 1990 Eldo no longer pulls down. I checked out the switch that is on the motor and it works properly. There is a remote switch located somewhere on the trunk lid that detects when the lid is down to begin the pull-down sequence. It is obviously bad as I get no continuity through the two leads that go to this switch. These two wires get lost in the harness and I cannot locate the switch for replacment or repair.

I am aware of the switch that is located on the pull-down motor. I am referring to a remote switch located somewhere on the trunk or hinge point which closes when the lid is pushed down. A 5-pin connector (only 4 pins used) plugs into the pull-down motor assembly these supply the following +12V, -12V and two other wires which must go to a remote switch on the trunk. One of the leads is coloredis Blk/Yel, the other Blk/Grn. These wire must go to a switch that closes when the lid is pushed down. Unless there is continuity between these two pins the motor will not begin the pull down sequence.

Thanks for the feedback emissionwiz and michigan man. My bench test of the motor assembly (motor, drive gears and integral switches ("paddle" switch and polarity reversing switch) showed that the unit works properly and does not need to be replaced. It is the remote switch (not part of the motor assembly) that I am trying to locate. Wish I had someway of sending you a PDF "ladder" diagram that I created of the circuit. It clearly describes how the motor assembly operates.

The trunk closer motor has a plastic drive inside that fractures over time, electrically it will check out,may even function WITHOUT latching the lid(no load), but will slip when trying to engage the lid, solution replace the unit. Yes, the switch is inside. Have replaced too many to count and all that where"autopsied" were broken as described.

There's a motor that pulls the trunk lid down after it latches. The motor is under the latch on the body side. to test it, push a philips screwdriver shank into the latch like it was grabbing the trunk pull down motor to see if it triggers the motor to operate

How to find trunk latch light switch

The trunk using the key or using the inside trunk release -- located next to the driver's seat. Inspect the left edge of the trunk wall to find the trunk light lens.

Check the switch (located on the trunk lid) that contacts the pull-down mechanism for power. If there is no power, the wiring is "open" between the body and the trunk lid. Look for the problem in the wiring and repair the wires. If there is power, the switch is bad.

Trunk pull down in 1993 lincoln town car

There is a switch near the latch thats attached to the body of the car. It connects directly to the motor for the latch. This is the number one cause of this problem.
You could check the motor operation by removing the switch (1 Torx screw & pull it up). Then connecting 12 volt leads to the 2 contacts on the motor itself. One way it should move up the other it should go down. The 3 wire connector has both positive and negative 12 volts. The polarity switches from the position of the switch on the trunk lid by the latch.
The switch is about $30 on eBay and the switch and motor are about $150. Search for trunk pulldown switch for availability and pictures.

If you are referring to the trunk lid pull down motor, the pull down switch is out of adjustment or bad. It is located on the main car body, not the lid.
