Beetle Hatch lock broke and hatch wont open

I have 1999 beetle that the lock tumbler came out and now the hatch will not open with key, key fob, or with inside button. With the fob and button you hear the motor run but hatch will not release. I have found some instructions on how to remove the lock, BUT they start with the hatch open. I have not been able to find a way to to open the hatch??????

Check your rear accuator. It is a black box with a brown rod on it. It is located underneath the rear hatch paneling. Hook up 12 volts to it after its out and see if the accuator moves. Don't put the voltage on it very long either.

Assumeing the key does not work and the electric lock has failed, disassembly is required. From the inside, remove the 8 screws holding the plastic on. 4 are above the glass the other 4 (2 each side) may be difficult to get to with the gate shut. Snap off the panel. The snaps may have to be replaced since they frequently no longer hold after removal. Most Checker, Napa or the like have replacements. If the plastic does not come off just pull it back enough to get an arm behind the panel. The idea is to get behind the plastic just enough to get an arm to the linkage. The locking cylinder in located to the right (passenger) side of center and at the bottom of the door. There is a linkage from the cylinder to the gate handle. Manually slide the linkage to the left (driver side). It now should open from the exterior.

U are stuck on this one, it is time to take it to a VW dealer and let them sort it out, I am sure this is not a one time problem and they have fixed it before.

Rear hatch does not lock. the window to the rear hatch is locked but the hatch itself will not lock. the hatch does engage the lockin mechanism. but you can open it from the outside without a key. I also...

You need to take the trim panel off the rear hatch, look inside ,see if the linkage is off on the key tumbler, but it sounds like you need a new tumbler. With the trim panel off take the tumbler out.A GM dealer will have the tumbler but it will come with a different key.

2000 chevy blazer hatch will not unlock

Hi I am Vortash if your son forced the key in and it wouldn't have taken much force , it has probably bent some of the tumbler pins so that when the correct key is inserted it is not lining up to drop into the lock recess to open the lock unfortunately your looking at a new lock .. if you don't have a interior release lever then your going to have to drill the lock till the center barel is free and open it like that , .. Regards Vortash

Try taking the battery out of your remote to see if it just still sending the signal????? You might have to clean your remote with contact cleaner. Also check the latch to make sure nothing is in the way of the latch????
