Question about 1997 Buick LeSabre

Cranks but don't start

I have a Buick Lesabre Limited 1998. When I turn the key in the ignition it cranks but doesn't start. I was told the problem is either ignition or fuel pump. How much do ignitions go for for my car?? I'm a woman and I don't want to be taken advantage of when I go see a mechanic. I looked into the recall for my car. It looks like there was a recall on the fuel pumps and I never had that replaced so hopefully that's the problem. Does anyone know what else it can possibly be?

P.S. Can't be the battery lights work, radio...etc.

The best way to check if it is the fuel pump is to buy some starting spray at AutoZone, etc... and take off your air cleaner line. Spray the starting spray A LIBERAL AMOUNT into the Throttle Body and try to start the car. If it starts and runs for a second then dies, it is most definately your fuel pump. This is an easy check to do yourself and will sameyou diagnostic time and $$$. Try it and post back what you find!

Good Luck!

Firing orange spark

orange spark indicates low voltage from low battery. faulty coil/s ,bad HT leads , bad condenser in distributor if you have points. ,failing ignition module if pointless distributor.

When the car is cool it will crank up, but when itget hot it shut off and wont crack backup

Does it crank and wont start, or does it not even crank over when hot? If it still cranks, if the starter cranks the engine over, then check for spark when it won't start. If you have no spark, something in your ignition system may get hot and fail-something like the crank position sensor, or the ignition control module.
Here is how to check for trouble codes on your Lesabre, and the code descriptions:

1988 buick lesabre limited edition used as a mail car cranks but no spark

You may need a shop manual to get the testing procedures. You need to know if the ignition module is getting power and a signal from the cam and crank sensors.

2000 Buick Lesabre hard start

Try depressing the gas pedal once before cranking. If it fires right up then replace the fuel filter. If not then you may need to replace the cam sensor.

Why wont my 1989 buick lesabre wont start ?

Does it crank? Or there's no crank no start? If it cranks safely get under the vehicle and bang on the fuel tank while someone holds the key in the crank position with the vehicle in park. If it starts it is most likely the fuel pump.

1995 buick lesabre limited, cranks but wont start...what should i do?

May be fuel related or ignition related:

Fuel: Obtain a can of "starting fluid" from an auto supply store. Spray directly into air intake for two seconds. If car "kicks" and trieds to start, then the problem is fuel-related. If you spray more, then it may start.
Could be: Fuel filter or fuel pump.

Ignition: Remove a sparkplug cable and lay it down on a metal part of the engine. Have someone crank the starter while you look for a spark from the cable end to the engine. If no spark, it could be several things:
distributor rotor, distributor cracked and/or wet on the inside, ignition coil.
