2001 Dodge Durango will start from a jump.

It will start from a jump, but a soon as I let off the accelerator it dies.I was jumping my other vehicle with the Durango to try and find out if it had a bad alternator.I did not start the Durango first.Once I did it died right away. Now I have this problem with the Durango.

Replace the battery, on a dodge when battery is weak the idle air control solenoid tries to search for the right position. and will keep stalling sometimes wont stay running.

2001 Durango. Why won't it start and run?

your anti theft device is activated, you need to lock and unlock your doors a couple times with the key fob,not the key,and then you need to put the key in the ignition and start it,if you dont have your key fob, call your car dealer to get a new one, they are programmed for each car only, you cannot bypass it.

2001 Hyundia Sonata changed 4 alternators in 6 months, figure it has to be something else. Car will start and run fine and then will die while driving. Will start up again sometimes on its own and...

Two ways the the battery was the problem:
1. It was not the right voltage battery installed.
2. It was a faulty battery...which is very possible.
As of right now, you Sonata runs, correct?

1999 durango starter will not stop after starting, keeps spinning

your starter is wrecked. this is a common problem when you jump start vehicles and battery voltage is below normal. the contacts in the starter are welded together and cant be fixed.

My 2001 dodge durango dies right down when started even hot or cold it back fires i have changed the sensors it does this in open loop to closed loop

Backfiring is a great symptom because you know what the problem is right away. It seems to be a timing issue. Crankshaft positioning sensor, distributor, electronic ignition, etc. Diagnose your problem concentrating on anything to do with timing. Vehicle just don't just don't jump timing unless something goes wrong of someone does work to it recently. If it backfires from the the exhaust you timing is advance and if it backfires from the intake it's retarded. It's is your firing timing.

Engine turns over but dies right away, then acts like the battery is dead. I jump started it but the engine dies unless I give it gas.

Try resetting the computer by removing one battery cable for 1/2 minute. Re-attach cable & drive one mile--should be reset. ( My Dodge does this & wil not reset until I drive it a mile or so.)

1998 Dodge Durango 318 V8. Engine won't idle. Car has been sitting. Battery was discharged - had to jump start. If you keep your foot on accelerator, engine runs smooth. Once you take it off, it dies....

Probably lost idle memory, all computer controlled keep it running for a period it should regain the idle memory if not make sure no rodent chew damage to wires to the throttle position sensor, if check engine light is on scan for faults.
