On my 96 Jeep Cherokee the power locks have all of a sudden stopped working (both switches - passenger and driver). What should I check and how can I fix this?
Check the wiring harness between the drivers door and "A" pillar.
You might have to peel the harness cover back and look to see if any wires are broken in there.

Look for broken wires inside the flex boot , black rubber boot from the body of the vehicle to divers door. That year vehicle happens a lot after you open the door a million times.
All of these functions are controlled by a central electronic module referred to as the BCM (body control module), you must have the dealer scan this module and run it through an active test to see what is wrong, it may be a defective BCM causing this, but that needs to be programmed and is not a plug and play part.
Lock and unlock both run off the same power supply...I'd be looking for a bad switch or a broken wire in the door harness where the wires go through the rubber boot between the door and pillar.
sounds like you have broken wire(s)between driver's door and post..if you are missing a power or ground feed to master switch, other side will not function as well
