Screen washers(front and rear) not working

Screen washers not functioning ! washer bottle is full front and rear pumps can both be heard to run when activated however no water is being put onto the windows. For a while a little came out but then stopped alltogether. My main problem is knowing how to get to the pumps to check if they are functioning correctly and if they are how then is the best way to clear a possible blockage?

i thought it might be frozen at fisrt but temperatres had been above freezing for about 2 weeks before and during the problem.im pretty sure it a blockage early on in te pipe work but not sure of best way to clear it or how to get to the pipes in general. The model is a ford mondeo 1-8R R registration ( it wasnt listed in the models available)

I shall go and have a look now and try what you advised.

Thankyou very much for the advice i stupidly never just thought to just take the pipe apart at these ionts to see where the blockage might actually start .Probably though i would imagine its early on in the chain to stop both working at the same time ,im off to take a look ill let you know how i get on but once again thanks!!!!

If both pumps are heard to be running odds are it isn't the pumps, and more likely a blockage. It would help to know what your current approximate air temperatures have been?

The front washer is fine. I don't hear a sound when trying to activate the pump.

Quick test since you can hear pumps running: Open hood. Look for a rubber hose going up from engine compartment to underside of hood. This should split somewhere if there are two washer jets on your hood, or else they go to your wipers and squirt directly off them, right? There will be a spot close to where this hose leaves the eng. comp. and joins with the hood that uses a splice connector. You can disconnect the hose here with some wiggling, and hit the squirters again to see if water is at least coming out of this primary hose. Yes? Good then the clog is at the jet end, or squirter end. Use a tiny piece of wire, like a bread tie without the insulation, and poke into the hole of the jet and try to clear out the dirt, or mineral deposit, dried soap scum, whatever. Now squirt again. Should start to clear out, or use compressed air and blow through jet. If your clog is not at the squirting end, follow the hose down to the little pump at the side/bottom of your juice bottle. GOod luck, and don't use too much additive, it clogs easier. Also don't use tap water if you get a lot of scale from hard water. THis will clog, too. Good Luck, TT

Rubber hose, look for a little rubber hose heading across the underside of the hood. This is the line to trace forward to the jets (sprayers) and back to the pumps.

Usually clogs at the very end (sprayer jet) but you never know. Let me know what you find. Glad you're on the way to getting to know your car better. TT

Toyota 4runner washer fluid does not come out

Open the hood and listen when some helper operated the "squirters".
You should hear a high-pitch whine that the washer pump makes.
No noise? Bad pump or bad wiring or corrosion at the terminals of the pump.
Noise heard?
Hoses are plugged up.OR the hose fell off the bottle and the bottle is empty.
You can use a small wire from a wire brush to un plug the squirt nozzles on the hood.Use pliers to feed the wire into the nozzles-you may poke your finger(sharp!).
Un plug the hoses that lead to the hood and apply air pressure to the hose from the windshield washer bottle.
Washer fluid is not toxic in small doses.

Rear Window washer ceased functioning, wiper works. Swapped relay with another one, no change. Reservoir is full. Front washer works fine.

Do you hear the pump running when you command the rear washer? If not, check fuse #7 and relay #38 in the rear fuse panel. If the pump is running, then you have either a blockage in the line going to the back or a break in the line.

Mini Cooper 2005. My front windscreen washers do not work although the washer bottle is full. Rear washer works fine. Any suggestions to solve the problem?

If you can hear the washer motor running when you operate it then the fault is most likely caused by a small filter for the washer pump inside the bottle that blocks up.
You will need to remove the washer bottle and clean out the filter.

Windscreen washer not workin on peugeot 307 i checked all fuses and replaced the pump still not operating.

Over a period of months the flow from the washers on our 2003 307 gradually reduced until there was nothing although the bottle was full and the pump could be heard. After removing the right front wheel and the inner mudguard liner the bottle can be removed. The pump unclips from the bottle. The pump has two outlet ports. Clipped into the ports is a small cylinder with spouts for the front and rear washer hoses. The pump runs forwards or backwards for either the front or rear wash. Inside the small cylinder is a rubber cylinder in a plastic tube which is a shuttle valve to isolate the two circuits. Over time the rubber cylinder had expanded in length and blocked both circuits. I shaved 1 m.m. from each end and now it works like new. You need to be a bit handy and be careful not to break or bruise any plastic surfaces. A Haynes manual is some very basic help.

Water not comeing out of washer front r back cant hear pump sound

check the wiring to the washer pump - its on the bottom of the washer bottle, disconnect the connector to the rear washer pump (do them both) and clean up the contacts with sandpaper - you can try swapping the connectors over and see if the front washer connector will power the rear washer, if so the problem is a fuse or the rear washer switch is broken.
Tell me how you get on and I'll advise further.
This way you can prove both pumps work, if the rear pump wont work off the front pump cable then the pump is at fault and needs replacing.

Peugeot 1007 windscreen washer water jets

Hi

It is usually the fuse. This blows very easily.(eg Ifyou operaten the washers when the fluid is frozen or partially frozen)

Look in your handbook. And in the fuse box in the engine compartment

If it is the same as some other Chevrolets they have 2 pumps attached to the side of the washer bottle. 1 for rear and 1 for front windscreen
