2005 Ford Five Hundred engine sputtering

05 ford five hundred with 37,500 miles
reoccuring engine sputtering at mid to high speeds, rpms racing, seems to be losing power when this happens. also when braking at low speeds the engine seems to hiccup, the fuel filter was replaced and fuel injection service done at local jiffy lube, this seemed to correct the problem but was short lived. any clue as to what the issue is?

Do you often run your gas tank to near empty?
If so.......
This sounds like it may be as simple as cleaning the water or gunk out of the gas tank which is what I always do 1st because it's easy and inexpensive.
If your fuel is contaminated with gunk, grime, water and/or bottom junk like rust this will cause stalling and rough riding!
Try spraying a can of starter fluid in the air intake and see if it runs! If it does, it's most likely bad fuel or clogged injectors so....
Fill the tank with High Test, Add some dry gas and a good fuel system cleaner or 2 or 3 and this should dissolve all the gunk and clean the injectors! Read & follow the cans' instruction carefully.
If this cures the problem never let your gas tank get below 1/4 and especially never run it to empty as this is when the gunk and/or water will enter the system!
Hope this helps!
Good Luck!

My 2006 ford five hundred AWD sounds like a race car engine ? Is that normal ? It only has 35 thousand miles. Everyone that gets in the car says why does it sound like that

The tach going up is fairly normal. They all do it. 2K is kind of high. Clean the mass air flow sensor and the throttle body. This will also take care of the slow go, unless you need a tune up. The drain tube is on the passenger side of the firewall, a 90 degree angle tube. Blow air into it, this will unclog it. THe race car sound is , no resonator, bad muffler or both....

I suggest check the easy things first. Vacuum lines, could cause a lean condition, fuel filter restricting the fuel flow lean condition. Carefully clean throttle body with proper cleaner. I'm a shade tree mechanic but these simple things work sometimes. You didn't mention if you have the cvt trans. If you do and you are going 75 80 on the highway coming to a hill will cause it to race that high. Then when the hill is crested it will slow down, I don't like it either but it is the nature of the beast. I often cancel the cruise on big hills on the highway so it doesn't do that.

TSB 05-17-5 states the exact same problem you are describing right now. If I were you, I would give them this info:

If they have an issue with that, I would speak to someone higher up the food chain...this is not your problem, it is Ford's.

I have a 2005 ford 500 and have had it for about 3 years and have had a problem with it bucking for about 2 of those years. When I increase my speed to fast or slow down it jerks multiple times. It seems...

Spark Plugs --get replaced at 70,000 miles--misfires
Clean MAF Sensor-- twice a year
Egr Valves go bad--cause bucking
Ignition Coils-fail at least 1 a year-misfire & bucking

Sounds all normal for most Fords

Also sounds a little like ,you just drive it,
and never work on it

I would guess you have had MIL Lamps
on the dash ,and ignored them also
