Question about 1998 Jeep Cherokee

1 Answer

Power Door Locks slow to respond and one part broken...

The power door locks to my Cherokee all work but very slowly. There is a 3-5 second delay that you must hold the button down, then the doors will all lock. Can this problem be fixed? Is it even a problem?

Secondly, the left side rear doors internal rocker switch seems to be disconected as it rocks freely with no resistance and it does not move when the power door lock buttons are pressed. How do I fix this?
Thanks!

Spray all mechanical parts of door latches with a good solvent...That should get them working if sticky. If that dosent work then solenoids inside doors need to be be sprayed inside small rubber boot on control rod end. L door panel needs to come off to re-connect control rod for rocker switch. (try first just removing lock trim panel and see if you can get to rod from there first.)

Door lock and opwer windows panel does not work

check your wires between the door panel and the cab. ive had this happen 2 or 3 times. you probaly have a broken wire. all power is run through the driverside door panel. the back windows worked and so did the locks on all other doors.

My 2004 jeep grand cherokee has issues with windows rolling down and the automatic door locks.. Neither will work on any door. The sunroof will roll back however.

Had a similar problem... the wiring harness that goes inside the drivers door had a broken wire, hence no power would go to the door locks or the power windows. Check the area where the harness flexes when the door opens and closes.

2001 Jeep Cherokee sport. Power door lock won't

Lock and unlock both run off the same power supply...I'd be looking for a bad switch or a broken wire in the door harness where the wires go through the rubber boot between the door and pillar.
