Question about 1994 Honda Accord

1 Answer

1994 Honda Accord Motor & Tranny replaced

I bought a 1994 Honda Accord that had the motor replaced with a 1995 rebuilt one and the transmission was replaced with a rebuilt 1994 one. Will these not work together? I am getting the D4 blinking light and after you go 5-10 miles, the forward gears go out. They do work after it sits a while, though. Also, Once the engine began to rev up and down for a few minutes after I started it. I have been told how to get the code by counting the blinks and all, but any idea what this could actually be? I always seem to get taken to the bank at service shops. {Yeah, I am a female...!}

Thanks In Advance,

Michelle

The blinking D4 light is your computer telling you that something is wrong with your transmission. You shouldn't have any compatabality problems with the engine and transmission. The downside is that unless you're a pretty compentant mechanic this isn't a easy problem to fix. If you have the time and you want to try to solve this probklem your self go to www.Alldata.com and subscribe to your vehicle. This is the same info the dealer has and will take you step by step to fixing your problem. otherwise its to a mechanic.

What kind of transmission fluid fur a manual transmission for a 1997 Honda accord

It looks like you can use:

3 quarts of Honda manual tranny fluid (kinda costly)
-or-
3 quarts of your favorite Synthetic blend 10w30 motor oil.

My drive 4 light on my honda accord wagon is

There are two speed sensors. One is on the tranny under the throttle bosy and one is under the tranny.

This is the one under the throttle body

This is the one under the tranny near the right wheel. The Countershaft speed sensor is the best bet. i replaced this one on a 1995 honda accord with flashing d4 and after replacement it was gone.the part will be about 125 bucks.

How do i take clutch fork out. trying to

Im assuming its 5speed, just remove the cables/line, no need to remove the clutch fork out to separate the tranny from the motor, clutch fork only work the throw-out bearing, it stay with the transmission; it little stubborn sometime for both to seperate from one another. just make sure the tranny is well balance and not hanging from the motor while trying separate the two. it will be very difficult trying to pull the tranny away from the motor if its not on the correct level and height and must not have no weight on the transmission shaft. You have to slide the tranny straight out and level from the flywheel, tranny shaft has to come out straight and same way when reinstall.

New Transmission

Don't replace it... get it rebuilt for about $1400. You should receive at least a 12 month warranty with a rebuilt as well. Otherwise, new transmission plus labor - $2600

Automatic transmission slipping 1994 honda accord

there are a few things to do b4 getting new tranny. i would first think of when the last time it was serviced was,if more than 2 or 3 years or 25000 miles since then have it serviced first for a few hundred dollars if you pay someone or about 65 if you do it.just change the filter and pan gasket and refill with appropriate fliud and amount.keep in mind this is only if you havnt drove it much since it started slipping...if it has slipped for more than a few days get a used or new one or have that rebuilt.

I have a 1994 Honda Accord LX sedan and the speedometer just stopped working. My mechanic just put in a transmission that he bought from a junk yard. How do i fix this problem?

I have a 99 accord and my speedometer and odometer did not work. The problem was the VSS vehicle speed sensor. The VSS is located on the transmission. Once I replaced it everything worked fine.
