Replace the TFI module. Google Ford TFI modules and you see the problem they have with these.

This is the part you need to replace. TP31SB. Just make sure you mark where the roter is in it's entirety. Ie. direction the roter is facing (under the cap) and same place roter is when you unscrew the set bolt.

My Lincoln Towncar is having a problem starting and running. It's making a swooshing sound and dies out. As if there isn't enough air getting to the engine. Can anyone help me please?

Check a spark plug wire fire spark (Autozone has a tool to do this safely for around $10) if no spark test the input wire at the coil, if there is power at the input plug (red wire) Replace the coil!

Ron, autozone used to have the capability of testing this module, call your local store and ask, if so take it to them (module) have it tested

Timimg oder for a 1986 lincon town car

if your firing order is wrong the engine will misfire while you try to crank, if you dont have spark the problem can be in the ignition module or the distributor pick-up coil itself , which is inside the distributor, first replace the ignition module. it is not very expensive.

The crank sensor was the problem with my 1995 Lincoln Town Car. Just had it replaced. So, don't know if the problem will reoccur.
