If you get the car running and your vehicle does not cut out, place a volt meter (Set on DC) on the positive and negative terminals of the battery while its running. it should read *Above* 12v (usually 13.5 - 14, sometimes just higher then 12, that shows its charging.) if it is reading less then 12 then your alternator is toast. Replace what is needed.

Not necessarily, speaking there might be enough power in the battery to run the radio but not turn the starter over. If you need to boost the car to start it there is a 95% chance that it is your battery that is toast. You can take your battery to a store that sells batterys and they can test it to see if it has dead cells. If the battery fails, its time to buy a new one.

My 2002 Pontiac Bonneville won't start all I get is a clicking noise when I turn the key

First thing to do is to test the battery. Do this by turning on the lights or radio and then try starting it. If the battery is weak when you try to start it the lights will dim or go out completely. If so replace the battery. If the lights stay bright the problem is probably in the solenoid or starter itself. The clicking you are hearing should be the solenoid on the starter trying to engage and most likely doesn't have enough power in the battery to start the car. If you are not mechanical or don't have the right tools you will have to find someone to replace the starter and solenoid. If you end up only changing the battery make sure to hook battery jumper cables or a battery charger to the cable connections to retain power to the car when you remove the battery. This is so your radio doesn't have to be reset by entering the code to the radio. If you don't have a charger or jumper cables, then make sure you have the radio code to reset your radio before disconnecting your battery or you will be disappointed when the new battery goes in and your radio keeps asking for you to enter the code and it won't work.

Subaru outback 2005 , replaced battery, radio and aircon not working no lights or power

When you turn the key you get nothing at all?
perhaps you put the cables on the wrong way and shorted something out?
or maybe the wires arent tight enough on the battery?
did you try hooking up booster cables? often when you buy a new battery it comes uncharged and needs to be charged properly on a good trickle charger.

hopefully you didnt hook the battery up backwards and short out the ECM...

1999 pontiac bonneville wont start at all and security light is blinking on and off ive tried a new starter and that didnt help. all lights and radio still works but car is not making any signs of turning...

Hello, this may help,I have a gm product with after market security in it,my batteries went dead and i had to unlock doors with key to boost it,when we hooked up cables now that it had power and every thing was open the computer thought truck was being stolen so it went into lock down and i sat there for two hours trying to boost,it would spin over but not start,,leave the booster cables or battery charger on it,if battery is charged skip that and use your keyless entry to lock doors or lock doors by hand also make sure hood is closed if possible and let sit for about fifteen min then unlock and try to start, also it may be as simple as the nutral safty switch not quite lined up,,try moving shift lever a little or move to nutral and try to start.

No radio no dash lights wont start

Check the car battery, make sure the battery cables are connected properly. You may need to remove the cables and clean the battery terminals then reattach the battery cables.

96 Olds Aurora wont start nothing happens when i turn the key, battery is good.

CHECK THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR POWER TO GAUGES TO SEE IF THEY WORK WHILE IGNITION IS IN THE ON POSITION.IF NO CHECK THE 40 AMP IGNITION FUSE.IF FUSE GOOD IGNITION SWITCH IS BAD OR HAS A LOOSE OR BROKEN WIRE.IF FUSE GOOD ALL GAUGES IS WORKING.I BE LOOKING AT STARTER AND STARTER SOLENOID.REMOVE THEM HAVE AUTO ZONE TEST STARTER.OR YOU CAN GET A REMOTE STARTER SWITCH AND SET OF BATTERY CABLES.HOOK BATTERY CABLES TO A BATTERY.WITH STARTER OUT OF CAR TAKE BATTERY CABLES HOOK NEGATIVE BATTERY TO STARTER BODY FOR GOOD GROUND.TAKE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE HOOK TO STARTER POSITIVE TERMINAL WHERE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE GOES.THEN HOOK THE REMOTE SWITCH RED WIRE TO STARTER POSITIVE TERMINAL AND THE OTHER REMOTE SWITCH WIRE TO THE S OR SWITCH TERMINAL ON STARTER SOLENOID.PRESS THE REMOTE SWITCH IS STARTER RUNS GOOD WITH NO FUNNY NOISES ITS GOOD IF STARTER DONT RUN THE STARTER SOLENOID OR STARTER IS BAD. THE PROBLEMS IN YOUR CAR COULD BE A BAD KEY TRY ANOTHER KEY YOUR CAR HAS THE THEFT DETERRENT MODULE SYSTEM BEST TO HAVE CAR SCAN TO CHECK THE THEFT SECURITY MODULE AND THE TRANSMISSION NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH IF ITS BAD STARTER WONT WORK.ALSO CHECK THE THEFT DETERRENT MODULE RELAY. BEFORE REMOVING BATTERY CABLES TURN OFF RADIO SO YOU WONT LOSE YOUR RADIO PLAYING CODE.

if the clicking is repeated with out you releasing the key then the battry is in need of charging or replacing, if its a one click each time then the starter motor is faulty.
