Question about 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier

2 Answers

My 2003 chevy cavalier didn't start a few weeks ago,

It ran fine the day before this. The only thing I noticed it shook a bit underneath when I stopped. It was very cold outside as well. When I took it for a short drive up the block, it seemed to be running low on power, I had to press the gas down hard, to get it up to 40 km. The exhaust was dark. The engine light is on. I took it to a garage they came up with about 10 news things, from their auto computer test. They say both front controlarm bushings worn, catylitic convertor plugged/damaged,spark plugs fouled, ignition controle module inoprtative, coil pack possible damaged. They also want to charge me an outragous amount if I let them fix it. It anyone knows what could be wrong with my car please help! Thanks so much. Michelle

First thing is the control arm bushings don't have anything to do with the running part. If the ignition control module was out it wouldn't start period. The spark plugs are going to be fouled because its running rich or using way too much fuel. You need to take it to a real mechanic and let them put the computer on it and get the codes. Because them people there are out for just the dollar.

2003 chevy cavalier will not start after sitting overnight

Usually the sign of a bad fuel pump check valve that allows fuel pressure to bleed off over night. Try this in the morning. Turn the key to ON for 2-secs, then OFF. Repeat 3 times. Then try to start. If it starts right up, you need a new fuel pump. By turning the key on and off you're filling the fuel lines and building pressure that you lost overnight.

Distributor sensor replaced but car started to shake

If the sensor is in the dist, the dist shaft could be worn and slowly damaging the new sensor.
Could also be a new problem.

2004 Chevy Cavalier engine light and trac off light

One year ago---your check engine light came on
The PO405 code was for an EGR Valve issue
No mention--- if you had that fixed

A Few Days Ago---you get Trac Light on,that is part of
the ABS Braking System
Now that system has to be diagnosed & repaired, not just
continue to use the car, actually make the repair, before
you do some damage or can't stop the car & worse things happen

Changing Trans Fluid---is NOT a FIX for anything, but should
be done on all vehicles every 3 years.

If the Engine Management System isn't working correctly, then
your trans won't work as it should either

You need to be proactive & immediately have any abnormal
operation or check light problems, at least diagnosed in a few days
of noticing them

You need to stop using any car that isn't 100% & have it
repaired as soon as possible.

Not wait weeks or years.
Being 9 years old, the trans may also have it's own issues

Car has been unused for two weeks. when i first started it up it ran rough. after a couple mins. it ran fine. drove down the street then it quit, would not start unless i held the gas pedal down as soon as...

The best thing is to take it to a parts store and have them check the codes. Im sure the check engine lite is on.But sounds like it might be choking itself to much.

2001 Xterra - Replaced fuel pump twice and is still not running.

I am no expert, but I just had a similar problem. The car would shake and buck when accelerating. It finally just died and would not start. After sitting for some time, the car would start and run a while, then do the same thing. I thought fuel pump. The dealer diagnosed distributor. After replacing, the car is running perfect. Something to think about. Good luck.

'03 Chevy Duramax won't start

there is a spot under the fuse pannel out under the hood that mice like to make nests and chew threw wires. its not a hard thing to pull the pannel. the cover comes off with a couple of snaps in between the motor and the fuse box.once you get it lifted out you then will need to unlatch the two on the pannel between the fender and the pannel. the pannel will flip up. if the truck sit alot there is were your problem probably is (you may want to check all the main and secondary fuses before you start)
