Question about 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier
It ran fine the day before this. The only thing I noticed it shook a bit underneath when I stopped. It was very cold outside as well. When I took it for a short drive up the block, it seemed to be running low on power, I had to press the gas down hard, to get it up to 40 km. The exhaust was dark. The engine light is on. I took it to a garage they came up with about 10 news things, from their auto computer test. They say both front controlarm bushings worn, catylitic convertor plugged/damaged,spark plugs fouled, ignition controle module inoprtative, coil pack possible damaged. They also want to charge me an outragous amount if I let them fix it. It anyone knows what could be wrong with my car please help! Thanks so much. Michelle
It sounds Like A Typical Timing Belt Or Chain Problem, It Has JUMPED TIMING Evadence Starting with the Dark EXHAUST and Low Power,....catylitic convertor spark plugs are VICTIMS of this Malfunction >Jumped Time< It Is A Costly Problem In the USA About $350-$400.00 All together But If you Own The Car Thats A Small Price For as New As It Is.........I Wish you Luck With It Be Smart and Get the "HANDS ON" Advise From 3-4 Shops Before You Settle on A Desition as to Who Is RIGHT and The Least Expensive. I Hope this Helps you and If So

First thing is the control arm bushings don't have anything to do with the running part. If the ignition control module was out it wouldn't start period. The spark plugs are going to be fouled because its running rich or using way too much fuel. You need to take it to a real mechanic and let them put the computer on it and get the codes. Because them people there are out for just the dollar.
