Question about 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier

Car spudders when i put in gear

My car been hard starting from cold winter...today i started it...in park it ran fine, but when i put it in gear (reverse and drive) the motor starts to sputter and wants to stall...even if i give it gas it still sputters....is a 94 cavalier 2.2

This is water in your fuel lines. when it was very cold, the water in the lines froze. when it melts, it runs to the injector system and causes these types of things to happen during acceleration. i would pick up some techtron. ths is good stuff. it will remove the water and, clean out the fuel system.

    if the problem still persist, i recommend changing the fuel filter and, replacing your fuel pump.

No if it is still working you probably did not break anything for now.
Yes the damage you did will probably shorten the life of the transmission.
You might want to drain the trans fluid to see if you have any large pieces of metal floating around. I would not change the filter if the trans has never been serviced.

My 2005 Nissan Altima turns on fine, while on park no problem, as soon as I put it in gear it starts to spudder and shake, it continues untill it reaches 2000 rpm's then calms down some. when I let go...
Try a new fuel filter, and have your fuel pressure checked. Also , check for any stored diagnostic codes, in your engine computer.

Transmission delayed engagement at cold start
Depending on how Cold it is where you are, The cold will effect the Operation of the Tranny. I am pretty sure that your Tranny is Fine, Just Really Cold. Depending also on where you live, I use Valvoline Quick Change to service my Vehicles when I am on the Road. Have never had a Problem with them. On the Fluid, They make so many Different Kinds now adays that it is hard to Choose. Look in the Back of your Owners Manual and Use what is Suggested in there.

Gear shifter is stuck in park and is hard to push button in
Have the brake lights checked to verify they work, if they are not working the system will stay locked in park, most likely the problem is a degfective brake light switch.
