Thanks, another problem I am having, is that the windshield wiper fluid. there is fluid in the tank but no fluid comes out. it seems like when I go to wash my windshield there is no noise coming from the motor to put the fluid on the windshield, does this mean that there is a fuse problem or that the motor for the windshield wiper fluid is done. usually when you pull in your switch for the wipers you hear a little motor noise, I dont hear that, please help me out as I had having a dirty windshield, lol, thanks guys

It is a good indication. check the battery with a volt meter a charged battery should read about 12.6 volts dc with the car running you should be getting between 13 and 14 volts at the battery if you are getting 12.6 or under when the car is running you need an alternator.

it sounds like your alternator is working propperly. some auto parts stores in my area will hook your car up and check the alternator for you also. keep an eye on it. check your battery voltage after you have driven the vehicle. your battery should be fully charged after driving. hope this helps.

you can get a reading at the alternator it will be the same volts as at the battery one of the posts should be a hot post that sends the charge to the battery. if you have a multimeter that has a clamp at the to to read amps you can also check how many amps your alternator is throwing but i'm not sure about how many amps your alternator should be throwing on this model. there are also quick check tools that they sell at the auto parts stores that will tell you what your alternator is charging. some stores have a tool called a microvat it will do a charging system test including loadtesting the battery, checking your alternator charge voltage and amps and diodes and starter draw. most auto parts stores have a loaner program where you can borrow specialty tools don't know if it;s like this in your area. hope this helps

Battery size for 1994 dodge colt

Just as a general rule of thumb, I don't buy a battery with less than 700 CCA (cold cranking amps). Depending on where you live, it may need to be more or less. Check your old battery (if you have it) and see how many CCA it has.

ok let's try to help you on this one install a new fuse but remove the cable that runs from the generator to the battery if the fuse won't blow you have a bad alternator or the wire is making contact with the metal on the alternator if yo have a voltmeter you can check this cable using your meter in ohms and with the battery cable disconnected

1994 Dodge colt does not have brake lights...

Brake light system runs through the directional signal switch. I would not overlook this possibility. Also look for the simple fix. Is power to the bulb? If yes, the bulb is bad or bad ground. Look for blown fuse.

Problem with starting

A good way to check to see if your alternator is working is start your car and remove the negative cable while it's running. If it dies, the alternator is bad. Check the condition of your cable ends and the cables themselves.
