Question about 2001 Chevrolet S-10

'99 chevy Silverado Z71,5.3 engine.....will not rev when hot.....

When cold, starts and runs great. After 10-15 miles and gets warm, or the more I drive it, it looses RPM's. Slows down in passing gears and will not recover. The more I drive it, the worse it gets. If driven long enough, another 3-5 miles, will barely go over 1000 RPM in any gear.
Stop for 5 minutes, start back up, and will drive for another 3-5 miles, but not over 2000 RPM's and goes downhill from there, untill it won't hardly move off idle.
200K, new tank fuel pump 5000 miles ago, new fuel filter at same time.
Just started this about 200 miles ago, keeping me from driving very far.
Always starts up and runs decent after shutting off for a few minutes for a little while, then starts slowing down again. Almost feels like old catalytic converter did when they plugged up when warm!
Thanks in advance for any help.....

Additionally, no "check engine" lights ever come on during the problem. Nothing shows up in fault codes.

??????? I'm kinda thinking fuel problem, if electrical, wouldn't it flash a code?????

I have a 1998 dodge that displayed similar problems, it wouldn''t throw a code, and this problem couldn't be fixed until they replaced the oxygen sensor. The EGR valve will usually throw a code, but not always

Hi Darla, your best bet is to go the dealer and get it checked up before it fails totaly. It has a fail safe for when the engine is sick it goes into 'limp home' mode. Hope that helps. Greg.

High rev at cold (winter cold!) idle

Your toyota technician should know what a "cold starting solenoid" is. It is the little thing that works your throttle until the motor warms up and something else takes over. I'd suggest going to another technician.

2006 chevy 2500 express cargo van .What is a good oil pressure for this van. it has 150,000 miles runs great

60psi cold / 30-45psi warm is ideal. I've seen (with that mileage) 45 cold/ 20 warm and that's acceptable - anything less start thinking about a new oil pump.

5.3 chevy hesitates when cold runs fine after warming up

what is the fuel pressure reading, sounds like low fuel pressure, you should have 60 PSI at idle and more when you throttle the engine up about 65 PSI, it should NEVER go down.

2000 chevy lumina. Is fan supposed to come on when car started

no fan comes on when engine cold start up .but it will come on when you turn on air conditioning or defrost on .if engine idling a while when temp get 190 degree the fan will kick on.if over heating you got air in system .wait until cools check coolant add more .crank engine let it idle few. minutes when start warming up turn off engine wait a while before removing radiator cap so you wont get scald.add more coolant .crank it again starting warming up turn off engine wait a while .add coolant .keep doing this procedure until your coolant stop dropping off .if you do this more than 6 times you got a leak some where.check crank level for signs.if oil level higher than normal.if everything looking good.when engine cool make sure add coolant to over flow jug cold level mark.
