Question about 2006 Chevrolet HHR

1 Answer

No Power at all Chevy HHR

My car would not remotely unlock, which I found to be odd.
So I then used my key to try to start the car, and I have not power at all for anything ! no indicator lights what so ever, Now can't get the key out of the ignition !
My guess is that my battery went Dead !
OK easy enough so how do you unlock the back door to replace the battery ? little loan get a jump start !
Or is this a master fuse type deal ? some where and if so where is that at ?

You don't need to open the rear hatch to jump the vehicle. open the hood and you will see a red cap that is meant for jumping the vehicle. there is a spot labeled ground as well, if there is no spot labeled ground, find a suitable bare metal spot to hook the ground up to. that should give the car enough power to get the key out and open the hatch. it may not be good enough to start the car but from that point you can get into the trunk and either jump it at the battery or replace the battery.

if jumping the vehicle doesn't work you can also try to look for blown fuses under the hood on the drivers side or in the passenger compartment in the middle console under the panel on the passenger side. the panel is held in by 4 clips and the fuse block is under the panel

Trunk does not open with key or remote, is there ome emergency switch or latch to get it open. 2003 impala.

Nope. You'll have to take out the back seat and see if you can get to the release mechanism and trip it manually. Seems odd that neither the key OR the remote will work.
Does the remote lock/unlock the doors O.K.?
Does the key turn at all?
Did this just start all at once?

Starting Problems

This may or may not help. Hopefully it will. We recently purchased this 1998 chrysler town & country. Everything was working fine, started fine, etc. we took it to get emissions done.....passed emissions.. .made it home. i turned the car off to run inside for a minute. came back out car started.. ran for 3 seconds than died out. tried again... ran for 3 seconds than died out... after that it no longer would do anything. all the lights worked except in the ignition module. the top dashboard lights worked though. I then noticed that the "alarm set" light stayed lit. after replacing fuses and running an OBD test and found no trouble codes or issues with fuses it dawned on me it may be the alarm. after searching the internet for hours i found a forum that suggested unplugging the battery for about 5 minutes....rehook it and then try starting it again. well i tried doing that the first time using the REMOTE to unlock the doors and nothing happened. i locked the doors and repeated the same battery unhook-rehook process except without using the remote... (i noticed a lot of forums saying that the remotes can be deffective in that they somehow trigger the alarm if the transmitter is not working properly as well as the fact that chrysler has issues with their anti-theft systems and if the alarm is set than it will act as a kill switch not allowing your ignition to work).. so after unhooking and rehooking the battery and using only the key to unlock it started right up! so i've decided to not use the remote at all and have had no other problems. let me know if this helps
