I replaced solenoid. Truck ran. Wont start again unless I tap on the starter. Lubed new solenoid, checked grounds, truck starts 2 or 3 times then battery loses voltage and does not turn over. Tested starter it is good. Tested battery it is good. Put in a new battery anyway. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: Truck wont start.
test starter solinoid wire from harness, with a helper put test light on wire get friend to turn key to start, light should light up, wires at the bottom of engine may (look) fine
SOURCE: replaced starter, battery, truck runs good 4 4 days
I would have to guess that you put the wires on the starter improperly, and they are either touching the engine block or each other. When you change starters you have to pay special attention to which way the wires are pointing, and which ones go where, or you may have moved them when you put it in. In any event, they have shorted out, and may have caused the solenoid to short, too. If not any of the above, your ignition switch on the steering column must be stuck. Good luck, and let me know how it goes.
SOURCE: truck will start for two weeks then wont. put a
check alternator output at the alt and at battery also put a test light on the starter solenoid at the little wire on solenoid see if it lights up when turn key ? possible positive or negative cables have good ohm checks but not carrying enough current ?
