The seat belt locked and it hs been serviced by a technician and it is currently working fine. Can't the ECU be reset or something instead an outright replacement? Please help

I unplugged the battery as suggested, but when I started the car the air bag light went off for about 2 - 3 seconds and came back on.

don't guess! take it to the dealer and have the system scanned for trouble code's, guessing is very expensive, the airbag module is well over $100

normally when seat belts deploy there deemed useless & should be replaced even though if you do replace seat belt it might still keep light on.air bag ecu some manufacturers say they need replaced every time you in crash some say upto 3 times to replace depending on type of would probably be better to book into local dealer & find out what fault codes you have in system to determine whats wrong if its seat belt & ecu these can easily be replaced by ur self.good luck.

I was t-boned in my 2005 monte carlo and my air bags did not deploy. Why?

You should be very happy that it did not deploy as that is probably why you are here today to write this question. Airbags will generally only deploy in a severe collision where there is a high probability of serious injury or a fatality. In your case it obviously was not severe enough to seriously hurt you. Be thankful and send the car manufacturer a thank you letter for building a car that helped you survive.

Airbag light stays on, how do I fix this myself with no cost or little cost?

If you haven't had the error code read from the cars SRS Airbag Computer Control Module, take the car to your friendly auto parts retailer and have the code read. Most parts suppliers will provide a complementary scan.

If the light comes on a second or two after the key is turned on it is an indication that the SRS computer has failed a system check.
The attached image shows components checked during the SRS diagnostics startup check. They check the wiring for bad connections and the airbag explosive charge to confirm the connections and charge is ready..

Having the error code data will give you an indication of the cost associated with the repair. With the light lit the saftey restraint is deactivated and the problem should be corrected. Many cars have tensioners that tighten the seat belt during a crash. Connections to these components along with the seat presence switches can have connection problems under and around the seats.

SRS remains charged even when the power to the SRS computer is removed. This makes sense when you think about a crash where the electrical systems fails at the instant the system needs to deploy the airbag!!

These systems need to be serviced only by a qualified technician. The Airbags can deploy without warning as when you are working on the system and not follow the required procedures.

My airbag light on the driver side goes off and on and chimes every few seconds on my 2007 Pt Cruiser. I'm afraid if I drive it with this happening my airbag will deploy on me.

The warning light means that a fault has occurred in the Airbag system (known as the "SRS" system), when this light is on the SRS system is disabled, so no the Airbag can't go off because the controller module has turned it off completely. Get it fixed ASAP because right now if you have an accident your SRS system will not work (Airbags will not deploy) to save you from injury.

Srs light on

What is responsible for this anomaly is the sensor that detected the hit. Maybe the electronics can be "reset" to resolve the issue - check with the dealer - maybe you can do it yourself.

I hit a deer and airbag didn't deploy but airbag light is on. I did smell a burning smell that the owners manual said would accompany airbag deployment. Could my airbags pop out at any moment and is it...

Are you sure the smell was not deer meat on the radiator?
No one can honestly say its safe to drive and that an airbag won't suddenly deploy. Best thing to do is have it scanned to see why the light is on. Most shops will have a scanner that should work for this (save you the high cost of a dealer). The light may just be on because there is crash data stored in the SRS module and it may need be replaced.

If the airbag has been deployed, is is necessary to REPLACE the airbag (SRS) ECU. It is located below the center console. (See picture) It must be replaced because on your vehicle, it contains the crash sensors. If you do not replace it and hook-up new airbags and turn the key on, the new airbags will immediately deploy. There is no way to "reset" it.

Front impact crash & airbag did not diploy

Airbags have specific criteria for deployment that determines whether impact was severe enough to deploy bags or whether only 1 stage deployment is needed or may decide impact was minor enough that deployment of airbags could potentially be more dangerous than the actual impact. For instance I was on the expressway last year going 65mph and someone rear ended me at over 100mph. Totaled my Ford Focus, her airbag did not deploy. Over certain speeds depending on the vehicle calibration, and airbag should never deploy. With an impact under a designated speed or over a designated speed a deployment can be dangerous. As long as your airbag light was not on before the crash I'd say your system was working properly and did not malfunction. If your airbag light ever comes on just keep in mind that any airbag malfunction will disable the system and turn on the light

My airbag light is always on the dashboard wat does this mean

If the airbag light remains lit after it runs through its test cycle it is an indication that one of the crash sensors is bad, the clock spring in the steering wheel is bad, or the airbag module is bad. If you connect an OBDII scanner to the test port under the dash you will get the trouble code that is triggered by the light and then you can replace the part that is bad.

SRS Problem Continued

the SRS light is for your airbags. The light means there's a fault with the airbag system. This means the airbags may not deploy in a crash, or may deploy suddenly. have it checked out right away
