Started running bad when I turned on the heater

It started idling rough when I turned on the heater last night. Every stop light the idle continually felt like it dropped & then jumped back up. Could feel the vibration. I didn't notice the rpm guage changing, but could really feel the roughness. Earlier that day I added Lucas fuel system cleaner & that night it started running bad again. (The day before I had the fuel filter changed & it was running smother) 3 weeks prior it was running bad & the check engine light came on for a day & then went off. Took it to my mechanic & all it said was a misfire, so he changed the plugs & wires. (He said he noticed signs of arching on 2 of the plugs & some spots on the wires) I can't afford to keep dumping money into it trying to figure out what's wrong.

Misfire can be caused by a few things. weak spark, low fuel pressure, to much fuel, vaccum leak. a simple check on this engine is to remove vaccum line from fuel pressure regulator, on fuel rail, driver side of engine. if you crank engine, and fuel leaks out vaccum port on regulator, its ruptured and causing rich fuel mixture. try that and let me know.

SOURCE: 2001 Tahoe: Hard to start, idles rough, check engine light on.

Flashing check engine light is missfire, fuel pump probably causing multiple tries to start.Having to build fuel preasure, vac leak on one side of intake probably causing rich/lean condition. Also check back preasure to cat ,Sound like you are moving down right track.Mas air flow would probably set lean code bank1 and lean code bank2

SOURCE: My 2003 GMC Sierra Idles Rough And Cut Off

Before replacing the O2 sensors, I would check the fuel pressure. You may also try to have someone pull a trouble code from the powertrain control module to verify why the engine light is on. Do not replace any parts until this is done, otherwise your going to be guessing at the root cause, and it will get expensive with part replacement.

Testimonial: "Trouble code P0101 {Mass Air Flow}and code P0332 Knock Sensor.Thanks i saved a lot money."

SOURCE: rough idle when cold

mcdevito75 here, Sounds like a faulty voltage regulator, it"s 1 unit with the alternator, change the alternator, also the alt. supplies juice to the ignition switch, distributor abd plugs, thus a rough idle due to bad alternator.

High idle and rough idle.

Sounds like a serious vacuum leak to me. Can you hear any air rushing under the hood when it's idling? Wiggle all your hoses around while its running and listen for a hiss. If it was a sensor his scanner should have picked it up, and if the fuel pump was no good, it wouldn't run at all. Aim a timing light at the crank mark. If it's jumping back and forth, your timing chain has jumped.

Rough idling and poor fuel economy on 92ford f-150

This whole problem is most likey due to a sludged up intake and idle speed control valve, do the following procedure and it should take care of the problems, also run a couple of cans of LUCUS brand fuel injector cleaner through, I know u will see it is more expensive than other brands, but the thing is it works!
Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls at stops and low erratic idle speed and rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake

Engine runs rough after about ten minutes /idles really low

Just trowing some suggestions out there, but, I would check the idle air control valve (solenoid) or the throttle position sensor. If they check out then my last guess would be the map sensor or the vaccuum to the map sensor. Hope I was able to help. Best wishes.

95 cadillac eldorado engine stalls rough idle check engine light is on

I have a 1994 Cadillac Eldorado and every time i start it the car has rough Idle and the Idle fluctuate's. I also can feel it in the gas pedal when the car is doing this I tried replacing the throttle body sensor but it still does it I also was told it was the Idle error sensor. So instead of spending the unecessary money again I thought I would go online and see if anyone could help me with this problem.

Rough idle

I took mine in to change the plugs and they said there are four O2 sensors in the fuel mixture system and two were bad. I didn't replace them since they were a little pricey ($500 to replace both) and I have 103,000 on the car. Has very similar roughness and occasional oscillations, but no stalling. Hope this helps.
