Question about 2006 Nissan Xterra

1 Answer

Neither of my license plate lights work on my 2006 Nissan Xterra.

I changed both light bulbs, and they still don't work.  Their appears to be some corrosion in the light sockets, not too bad though.  I am looking for the fuse and I can't find it.  I have checked several other fuses in the dash and engine compartment and they all seem to be good.

It is most likley a wiring problem or the corosion, the license plate lights are tied to the tail lights.

It is not on a separate fuse, either you have a bad connection or wire....or you need to replace both bulbs. I think I would start with bulbs and go from there.

License plate lights and tail lights share the same source of power. It is located inside the IPDM (Intelligent Power Distribution Module). Find it in the engine room RH, the box nearest to the firewall.

thode screws hold the lens or the light assembly? Allow for the whole tail light to come out and the bulb plug will be accessible. I never had the privilage. But how the lens fits will tell you. If the lens goes overthe edges, the whole unit comes out, lens is sealed. Good luck

Nissan Sentra License Plate Light Not Working

the license plate because of its position gets a lot of dirt and water problems so i would go back and take another good look remove the bulbs again and see if you can clean the inside with a little sand paper or a little scrape with a small screwdriver then spray with a little sileacone oil replace bulbs. Then switch lights on they should be ok if not try moveing them slightly with your fingers they should light.please let me know how you get on.adrian

I just changed out a tailight on my 2000 Nissan Xterra, so I assume it may be similar. You have to pop the plastic strip which runs across the back. There are pop rivits in it.
