Problem starting 2004 Pontiac GTO

Once a month, or so, I turn the ignition and the car does not start. After about three trys, it starts - cold or hot. New battery installed. Ignition clicks as if the battery is dead.

2004 Pontiac Gto: ignition switch key will not push in to allow the key to turn. What causes this ?

Well if wiggling the steering wheel doesn't work there's more to it. I can't take credit for this fix, but here's a link referencing the exact problem and solution. It does involve taking the steering column apart somewhat but it doesn't look too bad. In case the link below gets removed for some reason, just Google: "2004 Pontiac GTO key wont turn" Good Luck;

My 1969 GTO takes forever to start in cold weather, once it catches and warms up it runs fine

Assuming the engine is in good shape and not in need of a major tune-up, check your carburetor choke. It's not closing when cold. Clean and adjust.

Get a service manual and follow the instructions. Far too complicated to cover here.

Also, make sure you know how to properly SET the choke on a cold start. Slowly push the gas pedal to the floor and let up. Start engine without touching gas. If it's REALLY cold, like 0 degrees, you can hold the pedal halfway down while starting, after setting the choke.

1970 GTO big block with MSD ignition. Starts fine from cold. Once warm the engine dies and all electrical items are dead (dome lights, gauges) with no ability to restart. Once cold, the engine can

You'll need to trace the electrical from the battery to the starter and key switch when it goes dead. Could be a connection at the starter or in the harness.

I have a (service vehicle soon) warning on my 04 GTO. How do i clear it .??? Every time i start my car.

Why would you want to clear it???

You have a system malfunction

If you clear the code, you won't have a place to
start the diagnostic process ,to find out what is
wrong with your vehicle

Take it to a repair shop
