Question about 2002 Toyota MR2 Spyder
When I start up my car and put my foot on the accelerator the exhaust makes a raspy noise ,it doesnt happen all the time but usually when i am slowing down , it really annoys me and so im just wondering if anyone can help
It is the catalytic converter. The heat shield is starting to seperate from the converter. I had the same problem. I had the catalytic converter replaced ($1400). I argued that it should be covered under the emissions control plan (7 yrs, 70k miles). I finally won the battle because the dealer hung their hat on the fact that the heat shield came loose as a result of rust. I reviewed the law in detail and there is no mention of rust negating the replacement under the emissions law.
