On the bottom of your fuel tank there should be a drain plug, if you do not have one then disconnect the fuel line running to the fuel filter and drain it that way

My 93 firebird starts but sputters and dies

I agree with Dennis on checking the fuel pressure.
Could be a bad pump, restriction in the tank, vent problem in the tank, bad fuel filter, or bad pump relay.

The fuel pump on my 1995 Firebird Formula quit running. I've even tried feeding 12v directly to the grey wire on the fuel pump relay and it still doesn't run. Can a generic fuel pump be installed...

No, the fuel pump in the tank needs to be replaced. It's not too bad to remove the tank, hopefully you don't have much gas in there though.

Good Luck!

Fuel gauge is always on full on my 1999 Firebird?

the most probable cause is you may have a bad wire from guage to tank. also the float maybe sticking in tank.remove wire at tank sending unit and see if you have power, if no power either wire or guage is bad.

Need to install fuel pump in 1991 pontiac firebird

Sorry. Got to drop the tank. Just break the gas tank bolts and replace them with new ones. If the straps are badly rusted, replace them, too. Look for tank leaks on the top of the tank. Replace the sock on the fuel pump.

Location of fuel pump

yes the fuel pump is in the gas tank but before you change it checkout the fuel pump relay and fuses first there should be a fuel pump relay in the fuse box under the hood and also checkout all of the fuses under dash on the driver side it could even be the fuse to you sending unit

Need to drain fuel

Two way, one is that there is a drain plug on the bottom of the gas tank that you can undue, or you can remove the fuel line before the fuel filter and drain it that way

check if you have a drain plug in your fuel tank, if none, then there is no easy way but to bring down the whole tank and remove the old fuel. be careful in handling fuel.

Fuel pump on 2002 pontiac firebird 3.8 v-6?

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  3. Drain the fuel tank.
  4. Clean the area surrounding the sender assembly to prevent contamination of the fuel system.
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Fuel tank
    • Fuel sender-to-fuel tank retaining ring
    • Fuel sender from the fuel tank
    • Fuel pump from the sending unit 0900c152800a02fb.jpgFuel sender/pump assembly component identification
To install:
  1. Install or connect the following: NOTEThe fuel pump strainer must be in a horizontal position and must not block the float arm travel.
    • Fuel pump with new strainer onto the sending unit
    • New O-ring in the tank opening groove
    • New O-ring on the fuel sender feed tube
  2. Fold the strainer over itself and slowly position the sending assembly in the tank so the strainer is not damaged or trapped by the sump walls.
    • Retaining ring
    • Fuel tank. Torque the bolts to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm).
    • Fuel filler cap
    • Negative battery cable
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position for 2 seconds, OFF for 10 seconds, then back to the ON position. Check for fuel leaks
