I have full power until I turn the key more than half way, then there is a click click from under steering wheel area, and then no power what so ever. Turn key back and I have full power (lights, etc...) I can here the fuel pump start up at half a turn. The engine does at times attempt to start, but will not hold an idle or stay running.
Its like a kill switch has been activated.
Have been told its electrical, duh, but what can I replace a fuse? the brake switch?
Sounds like your starter is shorting..check your ground line and make sure no wires are crossing...you might want to also check the negative battery cable..if its not makeing a good connection to the battery or the block, youll get the same results and itll start burning out a wire..i have just recently fixed a problem similar to that on my truck.

I'm assuming you mean your key wont turn in the ignition. first off check to make sure the car is in park. then what you gotta do is put in the key and put a little pressure as if turning but dont turn too hard, then even though the steering wheel is locked you will have to try to move it a little, if you parked with your tires turned then you will want to try to turn the wheel in the same direction, (even locked you should be able to move it about a half inch) you will have to turn the wheel hard but it should move enough to allow the key to turn, you may have to jiggle the key a little in the ignition but it should eventually turn, just remember not to try turning the key too hard, the extra force wont make it go but can cause the key to break. this tends to happen when you turn the car off andthe steering wheel gets locked if the wheels are turned hard in either direction. also if multiple attempts at this still dont work, try taking the key out and turning it over and trying again. Even though both sides of the key are identicle, because of wear on the key and the ignition, sometimes when the wheel locks the ignition, it will only turn if the key is put in a certain way. I thing following happened: when the steering wheel is moved just a little bit with NO key inserted, it will lock itself (that's some common anti-theft measure). In order to get it unlocked, you have to insert the key and gently push to rotate it while you also gently move the steering wheel left and right untill the lock is released.

make sure your using power steering fluid recommended for the vehicle. If automatic transmission fluid it aerates causing bubbles. It's very similar to the effect of shaking a bottle of liquid detergent vigorously when half full. Having that much air in the system can cause it to whine very loudly and reduce the life of the pump.

the most probable cause is the rack and pinion steering system. check for leaks in system, make sure if its full of power steering fluid.. if all checks ok, then its in the rack and pinion. that causes binding. I had a car that did the samething on turns. it was the rack doing this.
