Sounds like pump is putting direct pressure into case, causing it to blow fluid out of the vent. You filled and checked level when warm on level surface while running??? Otherwise you can cause a similar problem. Internal pressure loss can only be solved with a rebuild.
Good luck

Makes whining noise

This could be a stuck Bendix gear. The Bendix gear is the gear that engages with the flywheel on the engine when you start the car, and if it hasn't retracted it will whine.

Check with a local garage, but do so soon.

Transmission

I am guessing here , that we are talking automatic transmission .
Topping up with automatic transmission fluid , is ok ! Where though was it pouring out from ? You need to get the leak repaired first . If its a high pressure hose then you should be able to get a replacement ready made , if not there are places that make up high pressure hoses to order , search on line .

Engine whines when put into gear. When you take

Sounds like you have a planetary gear whine. This is internal to the transmission and only engages when in gear. The only correction is t minimul, a soft rebuild of the transmission.

Transmission makes a whine at speeds in excess of 20mph in all gears 1-5 and lower speeds 0-20 it clicks whether the clutch is in or not

I assume its a manual transmission, sounds like the gears are whineing, check the fluid level, most manual are splash lubricated so low oil means not lubrication, also could be syncronizers, bearings, worn gears, out put/ in put shaft

It's grinding very hard when i put it in gear, drive or reverse.

Make sure you have enough fluid, and honestly, regardless of the fluid level, change it and put in new transmission fluid. If it's an automatic, change the transmission filter too. You can try adding some Lucas stabilizer as well. If that doesn't do it, you may be looking at a rebuild or replacement.
