Starting Problem, not Starting

Hi, I've got a Ford Laser KB 1981-1985 Model. 1.3 Litre.
Please Help I can't start the car, I tried to start it but the starter motor does not make any sound. Due to the starter motor solenoid not clicking i replaced it with a second hand one, but still the same. The Battery is OK. What Else Could it be, there is power going to the starter motor from battery but i don't know what the other wire attached to the starter is. Is That the Ignition wire or earth?

Thick battery positive connects to solenoid, as engine is neg earthed, the ignition wrte also connects to solenoid on lug, carefull not to mix them up as it will spark good luck

Hi there
It sounds like that your car is not starting. I think you got a loose wire and it might be at the back of the motor coming from the glow plugs. Good luck and ask again please.

you answered your own question with # 1
the fuel leak is doing opposite when starting it is sucking
air . i had the same problem on mine,
it also let the fuel drain back to the tank that then
takes forever to reprime itself

I got a 94 ford laser not starting (not flat bat)

At a time when it will not start, try hitting somewhere deep in the engine/transmission with a tool like a hammer..
or, if you can find where your starter motor is, tap there with the hammer.
The starter solenoid gets stuck and needs to be rebuilt/replaced.

Hi monkfreak... I had the same problem once only to discover that my ignition switch was faulty..
Are your battery terminal connections loose? Check for broken, loose or disconnected wiring in the starting circuit. Maybe the starter motor. On vehicles equipped with a 2.3 litre engine, built between 8/6/86 and 9/1/86, a no start condition may be caused by a damaged engine control wire harness....I hope this helps...Adios
