Question about 2006 Audi A3
Audi a3 2006 s line quattro 3dr
the rear high level brake light has stopped working because the washer pipe for the rear window came off and water shorted the brake light out.
i stripped it down but cant seem to get the light out without breaking it because it dosent seem to be screwed in, has it got plastic expanding clips on it?

SOURCE: Audi a3 rear brake light fault
the dealer can fix this or any mechanic with a vag com interface, basically its a matter of programing the tailgate lights (both of them) to work as brake lights. the euro speck enables one of the other or both, same goes for the backup light. if you had a module replaced recently this could be the reason for the change, whoever installed it should be able to rectify this for you.

If you need to repair the brake module, there is a fantastic article, complete with photos, at http://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec116.shtml
I followed this example for my '98 and now it works perfectly. I found a shop on eBay to rebuild my module (lifetime warranty) for under $200. It took me about 1 hour to pull it off and about 45 min to put it back on with minimum shop tools

Inside the boot is a plastic cap embeded in the boot liner. Remove the cap to reveal a screw. Undo the screw and the whole rear light cluster will come away in a sideways and not rearward direction to reveal all of the bulbs. Hope this helps.
