Question about 1994 Eagle Talon

When i drive my 1994 talon it seems like it is not shifting

My talon takes a little time to shift its a automatic has a crackling sound in the engine only when its in park and is leak tranny fluid i herd u will have problem with this car all the time now is that true cuz i dont want a car that i gota put money into to fix every month

Sounds like a torque converter issue as well as overall tranny problem leake could be a hose of could be a crack soudns like tranny is beyond repair and will be huge cost to nrepaire u may beable to save it if u have leak fix and flush tranny completely but i must warn u any vehicles more than 10 years old with more than 100 tho miles do not recomend a tranny flush because of sluge build up that may dammge gears

I have a 1994 Lincoln Contenental. Car drives just fine in first gear but will not shift into second gear.


If it is an automatic check and make sure that you have enough automatic transmission fluid in the car to little fluid will not allow the transmission to shift.

1994 jeep YJ Automatic transmission does not shift into 3rd all the time. This has happened several times now and seems to straighten itself out - not this time. It used to kick down at 40 mph. Replaced...


For your sake I hoping its a shift solenoid. Yes its in the valve body and there is some transmission surgery involved but its not that pricey. Otherwise it could be the shifter , manual shift valve, 3rd gear linkages etc. This is major tranny surgery. keep me posted.

The 1st>>2nd shift on the Subaru 4EAT automatic transmission can be more abrupt, but 3500 is too high.
Is there any delay when shifting from Park to Drive?
Does the Power light flash on startup? If it does, you can pull the codes by following these instructions.

This trans has 'bands' that can be adjusted. I'm not 100% sure they affect the 1st>2nd gear shift, but maybe they need adjusted.

Unable to shift from park into drive


there is a solenoid that releases the shifter when you step on the brake pedal.there is by the shifter a little tab that can be popped out with a small screwdriver,and using your key,put into the hole and the mechanical device will release the shifter.
it is called a shift lock override

Transmission problem stuck in sport shift mode


I also have a 2009 Outlander Sportronic transmission with a V6 engine.
Bought it this summer ... transmission appeared fine but seemed to automatically slow down the vehicle using the engines compression whenever I let go of the gas pedal.
Now that the cold weather is upon us here in Canada, whenever I accelarate normally (not like a teenager) the transmission takes quite a bit of time to shift into second... If I rev up the engine (quick take off) it seems to help but the shifting of gears is not as smooth as I would expect it (mildly slips and kicks into second)...

The worst is when come to a complete stop ... then the transmission kicks coming down from the higher gears???

I read somewhere that this is because this transmission is a CVT type and is learning my driving habits in order to adjust itself so the vehicle becomes more fuel efficient... Not sure but if the trany is computer controlled then it must be poorly writen program...
I'm taking the car in to the dealer and will write back on the diagnostic they give me ...

Automatic 1994 metro 3 cyl.tranny takes a long time to shift


Sounds like the converter clutch is engaging. Maybe converter selonoid? Should get put on scanner to be sure.

sounds like you guys have sticky solenoids in the the trans ,my advice it to go to the nearest automotive place and buy some sea foam for trans because it will free sticky solenoids
