Question about 1998 Audi A4

Gas leak there is a leak on the passenger side about 1/2 way back under the car. It looks like its coming out of an object that looks like a tin can. Smells like gas. Anyone know what part this is called or what has caused this? Thanks for your help in advanced.

Hi, Your description matches the fuel filter, the only way to tell exactly what is wrong with it is to have it looked at. It could be a fitting to or from the filter or the filter could have a crack or there could be a split in the line. Best of Luck to you!

That would be your fuel filter. How it happened would be unknown to anyone, rock, pothole, curb, rust. But you should get it replaced or do it yourself asap fairly easy job to get done.FYI you go through Audi to get the part you will be paying alot of money. I am all about OEM parts, but the fuel filter for my Ford the is OEM was almost 150 dollars. So just FYI

2004 nissan sentra rain leak passenger side

Someone in the car watching for leak, someone outside the car with a hose.. Gently apply water to the door area and person inside looks for the leak... Another possibilty. If the water is comning from under the car it can be a rusted place or a body separaion.. harder to find. It can be comning in from around the windheild seal and running down the interior firewall. This is how a shop would find the leak.. but they would charge you for it..

Gas leaking front passenger side of ford windstar

Have you looked under the hood? (I don't mean to sound like a wise guy.) There are two shiney metal pipes one on the front of the engine and one on the rear as you look at it from the front. They run from right to left on the engine. These are the fuel racks that feed the fuel injectors, (assuming that you have a 3 litre or larger v6 engine). These can concievably rust at the left, (passenger), end and blow gasoline out the passenger side. It is also possible that gas could be leaking anywhere on the engine and roll off the passenger side of the engine or if the fuel line on the driver's side has rusted over a cross member of the frame and possibly roll to the passenger side. Also, there is pretty good pressure on the fuel line when it is running. If there is a rust hole on the right side of the line itself, it could spray to the passenger side, hit something and drip off from there. These are just possibilities. Good luck. Jeff M.

Heat come through onl on passenger side

Look for a hole or opening in the fire wall from under the hood.
Wire harnesses, AC lines and heater hoses usually have a grommet that closes off the air leak where they come into the passenger compartment. One may have rotted or simply pulled out. If pulled out, work it back in.
If you can get under the dash with the seat pushed all the way back, you can put a drop light under the hood, get under the dash and look for the light coming in. If you see anything.....PLUG IT!! :-)

Leaking antifreeze fluid from under the engine.

might be a freeze plug leaking, or heater hose. there are three freeze plugs on each side of engine and two in back of engine. most likely if any of them are leaking, it will be the one behind the starter on the far right rear of engine block. they have also been known to leak around the front and rear of intake, where intake, head, and block meet.

I would check for vacuum leaks, maybe intake or brake booster
