400 to 600-dollars, depends on the shop. Check on the back ground of the shop you choose. They should have a hourly rate on the wall somewhere, plus a book that is given from a dearship on the estimated time to do this job, not including the parts needed to do this job.

What would be the cost to replace the water pump in 2001 Mazda MPV at a local shop?

That all depends on the local shop. Labor rates vary from area to area and from shop to shop within the same area.
What I can tell you is this:
The Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the water pump is $167.13 (USD)
The standard labor time required to replace the pump is 2.0 hours.
The cost of antifreeze will also vary depending on the local shop and what brand of antifreeze they use.

I would suggest that you call the local shops for estimates. If they charge more than MSRP for the pump or if they charge more than 2.0 hours labor time to replace it, then you should get another estimate from someplace else.

Water pump cost of repair

This is just an estimate i would give for my area as the average labor cost here is about 69.00 per hour. Retail cost on the parts come to about $78.00 as well as 2.5 hrs in labor. I would charge here about $240.00 at the most. Make sure they flush your cooling system out as well. Hope this helped and good luck.

My mechanic told me that the "plate" that holds my rear brakes together, including the parking brake is bad. He said that it will require taking the axel off in order to replace and the job will cost 6 to...

I'm not sure what he meant by the "plate" when you got the diagnosis. Maybe he said "rotor" or "caliper" instead?

Anyway, here's some reasonable ranges for parts and labor for a few brake-related jobs on a 2001 blazer 4WD. If you combine jobs, the labor price might go down (since the mechanic doesn't have to do all the steps for each job) but the parts prices are going to be constant:

Replace rear calipers:
parts - $150 - $500, depending on if you get used or new parts
labor - $100 - $150

Replace rear brake shoes and resurface (smooth off) rotors:
parts - $40 - $130, depending on performance vs economy shoes
labor - $200 - $250

Replace rear brake shoes and replace rear rotors:
parts - $130 - $400, again depending on performance vs economy parts
labor - $150-$190

None of those look like "remove the rear axel" kinds of labor rates, so either your mechanic is full of beans, or I'm not guessing correctly what he has identified as the problem.

Post back if you can get more details on this "plate" -- specifically the exact name of the part being replaced -- and I can get you ballpark repair costs.

Disclaimer time -- repair prices vary widely within a city, and vary even more from one part of the country to another. Without your ZIP code, I can only give general price estimates, and your region may be 50% higher or lower than my figures.

How much will it cost for a mechanic to change oil pan gasket on my 1998 chevy blazer 4wd big v6 engine?

Gasket = $35 (permatex rubber)
Labor - my manual says 3 hours.
You'll have to be responsible for figuring out the labor price per hour depending on where you are located.
In MI, a garage is about $50/hr, and dealership = $85/hr
CA might be $95/$150/hr.

Parts are minimal on the job - its all labor.
Figure in about $20 for shop supplies... gasket remover, sealant, rags, etc.

I have a 1999 blazer. It was making a roaring noise in the front end. Took it to a garage. They replaced the passenger side wheel bearings. This cost around $400.00 for parts and Labor. When I picked the...

Ask them why it wasn't a problem before the work that they did in that area, and if it normally needs replacement because of bearing work done, then why wasn't it done, and why should you pay the labor to pull everything apart again? Call your local parts store or dealer for price on part, so you know what they're charging you for labor. If it's 2 wheel drive, ( gives an estimate of about $75-$100 for labor & $50-$75 for parts.? Something not right here! Have you dealt with these guys before?

Clutch replacement cost

8-10 hrs is more accurate, call around to other repair shops and ask what the flat rate time is for a clutch change on your make and model, most clutch jobs run around $600-800.
