How to replace alternator belt for 1984 Mercedes 190E.

Loosen the bolts underside of alternator and then loosen the tension arm alongside the alternator. After replacing the belt, use a piece of wood a suitable length and size to re-tension the belt whilst tightening the tension arm then tighten the lower bolts.

I have the alternator off, now I can't get the belt around the new one

Make sure you are routing it properly. If it is the wrong way on even one pulley it can be too loose or too tight.

How do I replace an alternator/fan belt on a 1984 Nissan datsun Pickup?

#1 loosen the Alternator drive Belt adjusting bolt, and remove the belt. Install new belt, tighten the adjusting bolt to give you the propper belt tention. At the longest span between two polleys at the midway point press down with your thumb and you should not be able to move the belt more than 1/4 of an inch. Good Luck and have a good XMASS.

I need to replace a serpentine belt on a 1984 Ford Bronco. Can anyone tell me where to find the belt tensioner? Also can the belt be replaced without removing the radiator fan? Thanks.

No - your belt cannot be replaced without taking the fan off. More than likely, you also have multiple belts. You will have a 1/2 inch spot on most of the plates to tighten each individual component. Look for a place to attach a 1/2 inch breaker bar/ratchet next to the alternator, steering pump, smug pump, etc. These should all be v-belts on a 1984, not a true serpentine.

Timing belt on 1996 mazda protege slips during startup

Hello, this to me sounds like your fan belt slipping (not timing belt). To adjust the fan belt you need to undo your bolt on the alternator, pull it tight onto the fan belt and while holding it tight do the bolt back up tightly. this will stop yoour fan belt from slipping. I hope this helps.

You need to pull the starter out and check the drive gear. If the drive gear is no good you will have to replace the starter. Make sure the cogs on the fly wheel are okay. If the fly wheel is damaged you will have to replace the fly wheel.
