Oil filters these days are in the darndest places. Of course I long for the day when I could use my handy oil filter wrench. Alas those days might be gone forever. If you can get your bare hand on it but it still will not come off. Make sure it's clean and dry of grease, then use a rubber jar opener from the kitchen. It should come right off. Please remember since you are the guy who will likely change your oil next time, the new filter should be hand tightened only.
If the check oil light goes on your vehicle, pull over as quickly and safely as you can. Turn off the engine, then put on your hazard lights and open the hood. Check the oil and then add oil if it is low. Restart the engine and check the light. The check oil light means that your oil is very low.
bad oil pressure or oxygen sensor or bad fuel mixture sensor or even a failing fuel injector. I sure wish they wouldnt put dummy lights in vehicles but instead there should be gauges because if it is oil pressure theres probably damage to motor because those dummy lights come on when its pretty much to late to stop damage..
does the oil pressure gauge show low oil pressure?is it low oil pressure light? or low oil light? 2 sensors on this vehicle.make sure you get a chevrolet oil sensor, aftermarket sensor do not do well, make sure your using 5w30 or 10w30 wieght oil,if you are putting out over 20 lbs at idle in gear,i see no problem, should go up to 40 or better on accel,if it is low oil pressure and the gauge conferms, possible engine wear
open the hood, unscrew the oil cap. it is black and round and will have yellow writing on it. add a quart of 10w-30 oil, put the cap back on and see if the light comes back on. If this is too hard to understand, go to an auto part store, or an oil change place and ask them to check your oil level. Happy motoring!
Well most likey you may have a Coolant Temp Sensor concern causing it to flood but it could also be from sitting as well. The SES probally come on due to it running a bit rough after starting & set a Misfire code. The Oil Change Light Is easy to re-set.Turn Ignition on but do not start, open hood, remove underhood fuse box cover hold down the red oil-r button for 5-8 secs.then check oil change soon lamp, should be flashing.Turn Ignition off & it's reset
sorry to hear of your crash; about the only thing you can do now that the hood is badly damaged is: using a crowbar break the hoodlatch as carefully as you can because the car's oil light is on you must find the oil leaknot just pour oil into the engine or, the oil will leak out and, the engine will be ruined
