As you face the front of the engine look just to the right of the trottle body and down a couple inches. Your PCV valve is is in the back side of the valve cover gasket. Should have a spring clip on it.
I have uploaded a pictur indicating where the throttle body is located.
Also here is a pic showing the hose that should lead to your PCV valve (moving towards the engine)
If the engine in question is the 4.3l Vortec motor, the pcv valve is
located on the driver's side valve cover, near the center. If it is the
2.2l motor, it is also located on the main valve cover, near the front
of the cylinder head.
PCV BasicsPCV stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation. All car engines have a PCV valve and it is located on top of the motor's valve cover. There is a vacuum line attached to it. It pulls out of the valve cover and if you shake it, you should hear a marble knocking inside it. If you shake it and don't hear anything, it's bad. It costs less than 5 bucks to replace.
"blew out" is a bit dramatic...If it's a pcv hose it should have a ton of suction at the open end or where it had been attached. Also with that hose detached, your engine won't run at idle very well or at all. Most often, any hose that becomes disconnected stays pretty close to where it's supposed to be attached. Simply look for a clean attachment nipple near where you found the hose and put it back there.
If you haven't bought the part yet and are planning on replacing it ...i'd go to the auto parts store and ask them for the part location. They are usually glad to do this. I know Advanced Auto Parts does this for me.
