I have the same problem. Started about a month ago. Driver's door died completely. When it did I had all the windows on "child lock"...so not a single window will go down. I can't lock the doors from the drivers or even adjust the mirrors. The local Jeep service department said it was possibly a power switch in the driver's door that had gone out...approximately $80 to replace it. Do you believe this is the same problem you were having?? If so checking the wiring did fix it???

I have the same problem. Drivers door is completely dead. When it quit working I had the windows on "child lock" so I'm assuming that is why no other window will go down. I can't even adjust the side mirrors because it is controlled on the door. I can unlock the doors from the passenger side, but have to manually lock/unlock the drivers door. I have checked fuses, but was told there was no fuse for the door. The local Jeep service department said it was the "Power Switch" in the door that had gone bad, which is about 80 dollars. Do you think that is the case?? Or do you believe it is the wiring that you all have mentioned?? My problem seems very similar to the others posted. I seriously doubt it is the motor for the windows because there was no sign that it could be going bad like I've heard/seen in other cars...such as grinding noises, slow going up/down, or just stopping completely. NONE of that had occurred.

Ok, I fixed my problem by using one of the solutions posted here. I checked the wiring harness running between the driver's door and the body. I pulled back the rubber protective sleeve over the wires, well the black wire was broken and the orange wire with the white stripe was cracked and bare wire was showing. I repaired the orange wire and the broken wire and now the switches work just just fine! Problem fixed!

Wow I just had the problem fixed on my '04 jeep yesterday. The wires under the driver's side power seat were pinched and or broken. I had an electrical specialist - not a dealer- fix the problem for $85 what a deal.

Windows do not work, locks do but not drivers side/ please advise grand Cherokee 04.

1. Check the fuse that supplies the power windows.
2. If the fuse is good, then check the wiring harness that passes to the drivers door. If there's a broken wire, power will not be supplied to the windows and they won't work.

Let me know what you find.

All of the power windows just went out on my 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The power locks work on the passenger side door but not on the drivers side. None of the controls work on the drivers side including the...

slide the rubber boot up and check the wires in the hinge of the doors. I will bet anything that the wires are broken. that was what was wrong with mine. just splice them back together and everything should work fine.

Check the wiring between the drivers door and the A pillar(the body of the car). Sometimes the harness breaks from opening and closing the door.
