Staring ford 1992 f150

Good gas ,35-40 psi on rail spins good has good spark , runs on starter fuel , and spraying gas in to air intake . but not on it;s own ran good on day and then NOT

Check your MAP sensor. My 92 f150 had a similar problem, wound up being a bad MAP sensor.

Remove the fuel filter and pour the fuel into a glass container, note the color. Wipe off the ends of the filter, and blow through it the direction the fuel flows. There should be nearly no restriction at all. If there is, replace it. Also check with a flashlight all along the fuellines from the tank to the engine for aftermarket filters that someone may have installed. The fact that there is pressure at the manifold shows pressure, not volume. A clogged filter can let through pressure, not volume, although I wouldn't rule out the pump completely.

    maybe this wiring diagram will help, only it doesnt show the location of the relay. this is a mustang diagram, but it should be the same. ill keep looking though.

U will need to replace the fuel pump. The pump is located inside the fuel tank, remember to replace the fuel filter also or the new pump warranty will be voided.

What would make a not start unless I pour gas into intake

Hi Clyde:
Since you mention "gas rail" I'm assuming fuel injected.
I'd check the fuel pressure in the rail. Should be around 40 PSI.
If pressure is OK then injectors not working. Time to check cps.
You know the spark side is OK since it will run.

On my 1992 Ford F150,Seems that my fuel line is bleeding back at night. I have to prime the intake, then it runs fine. Is there a check valve somewhere that could have gone bad?

Check the fuel pressure regulator by pulling the vacuum hose off and look for fuel if any fuel drips out tor you see any raw fuel then the regulator is faulty.If the regulator checks out to be good then check your fuel pressure it should be 45-60 psi if its the 4.9 c.i. 6 cylinder motor and if its the 5.0 or the 5.8 V-8 motor then it should be 35-45 psi with the ignition on and engine off.

There is a fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail. It could be bad. To check this pull off the vacuum line and turn the ignition on without trying to start the car. If fuel comes out of the vacuum hose fitting the fuel pressure regulator is bad. Another possibility is a bad fuel pump. Check your fuel preasure. If low or non exisitant replace fuel pump only after checking fuel pressure regulator. Good luck.

Bobby, when you say you cleaned the injectors, do you mean you cleaned the tips that go into the intake, or the end that connects to the fuel rail? Pull your injection rail (fuel rail) and crank the engine over while it is out and see if fuel is spraying from the injectors in a cone shape spray, sounds like they are clogged, if you cannot remove the clogs by cleaning then they will have to be replaced, you can get them from a used engine or buy new ones. On the upper drivers side of your engine compartment you will find a diagnostic connector, there will be two ends close together, one has two rows of pins 4 pins in the top row and 2 pins in the bottom row, install a jumper wire between the 1st pin in the second row and the other plug, which has only one pin, turn on the key and count the check engine light flashes to retreive fault codes should all be two digit codes, let me know what codes you find and I can help.

Ford f-150 will start sometimes

sounds like it is starving for fuel. replace your fuel filter, it could be clogged.

I have a 302, it has spark it has fuel pressure and it runs when i dump gas in the intake however it will not stay running

if you've gotta dump more gas in it than it should be getting, it may have a large vacuum leak

99 Taurus Wont start unless gas is sprayed into the intake

check out the injectors and the coil pack to make sure you are getting spark
